I've wondered about the musical tastes here. I'm sure there's be a lot of agreeing to disagree. This is where I'll be tonight:

Steve
Let's see,
I have been to,
Barry Manilow. (Oh, it was worth the pain after the concert.[Love4][Wink])
Alice Cooper
The Kinks
David Bowie
And AC/DC.
That is the extent of my concert career.
If Jethro Tull could get their walkers and wheelchairs on the stage, I'd be there.
Ian Anderson might be old enough that people are calling him Aqualung...
If they are a live show, I've probably been to it (or even played in it, hehe).

Metallica, 3 different countries
Alice Cooper
Monsters of Rock, England and Germany
Charlie Daniels
Aldo Nova

been to David Allen Coe, ZZ top, Montgomery Gentry, Brad Paisley, the Misfits... and some others
Tull, Nazareth, Seger, Damn Yankees, Bad Company, U2 (back in the Blood Red Sky days), they all put on a hell of a show but they and I are too old.
Starship did not.
Nitzer Ebb, Peter Murphy, Depeche Mode, probably a good show but I was kind of lost.
Def Leppard & Ozzy, good back in the day, I wouldn't want to go now.

I'd attend:
Simon & Garfunkel (minus the pot)
That's about it - I hate crowds so I avoid places I could expect to be in one.
Went to many in "the day". Here's the one's I can remember:
Journey / Bryan Adams (1983)
REO Speedwagon / Cheap Trick (1984)
Billy Joel (mid/late 80's - He was still with Christie Brinkley )
Bon Jovi / Metallica (mid/late 80's)
Chicago (mid/late 80's)
The Platters (1987)
Ricky Nelson (~1982)
The Tubes (1983)

Janis Joplin
"Woodstock"
Elton John
Rolling Stones
Kenny Rogers
Willie Nelson
Just to name a few !!
I don't have enough brain cells left to remember 'em all.

The Kind I'm paid for !!!!
I generally hate concerts unless it's a gig I'm being paid for anymore.
In order of every big name concert I've ever been to would be:
Garth Brooks (went because my girlfriend was going. She was in 8th grade! and I was only in 6th grade, so I HAD to go).
Metallica for the Load Tour.
3rd Eye Blind and Eve 6 opened for them.
Metallica again.
Tool was my last concert.
I also went through a period where we'd go see local metal bands like Tank and Shotgun Messiah (I think that was their name). I remember also seeing Propagahndi I think.
There was one other show more recently (within the last five years) but I don't remember who they are.
Chicago (my first, not by choice)
Nine Inch Nails (2x)
Pop Will Eat Itself
Marilyn Manson
Tool
Perfect Circle
Tori Amos (3x)
Ministry
Poe
Smashing Pumpkins
Garbage
Fiona Apple (girlfriend wanted to go, but Fiona is hot)
Jawbreaker/Jawbox
Orbital
Kraftwerk (reunion tour)
KMFDM
Paul Oakenfold
BT & too many techno/trance DJ's to list
Jim Rose circus sideshow
This is all I can remember, I'm sure there were others that just were not that good or worth mentioning.
How was Poe live? Kind of sucks that she fell off the face of the planet (as far as I know).
Also, I've been to a bunch of techno guys. First notable for me was Benny Benassi.
I'm not a big fan of going to concerts. I've seen Ministry 4 times and KMFDM once along with some other bands at a summer festival thing.

I take it you do lighting setups in clubs? I'm one of those people who always looks closely at the lighting to see if I can figure out how it all works. Love that stuff. I did stage lighting in High School.

It was good! She's talented no doubt.
I forgot to add Einsturzende Neubauten, which was: trippy.
Al, +1 for KMFDM and Ministry, love those guys. I use to go to Metro/Smartbar in Chicago a lot, you'd frequently see a red Porsche 911 out front with KMFDM 1 on the plates.

I haven't even heard of most of the groups that Hoosier has been to.
I'd love to have Hoosier's list. I wanted to see NIN recently, but wish I had seen them back in the day, a long with Nirvana. Big fan of Smashing Pumpkins and would have liked to see Perfect Circle and Garbage as well.
Does Maynard stand in one place like a mannequin when he performs with Perfect Circle as well?

I started to use the tag name clublights years ago when I was " just" working in nightclubs.

That'll do.
'at'll do Donkey. 'at'll do.
The past: "I'm with rondog"
The future: Kenny Wayne Shepherd in a small venue would be cool but nothing else interests me. Frankly, if I'm carving-out a few hours of discretionary time to burn concerts wouldn't even make my "top 10."

To many to name. If it toured and came through Portland/Seattle in the 70's I saw it. Many good shows in the 80's in Belgium and then in Georgia and Kansas.
Some of the very good ones.
Pink Floyd, DSOTM and Animals tour.
Led Zep, Seattle 1973
Ozzy, 82-84? Brussels. Once with RR and once without.
J Giles Band. One of the best live bands ever from 75-80 Think I saw them 7 times.
Rush. back in 77-78
Santana. Another band that we went to every year.
Wings over America in 76
Parliament in 77
Cheap trick in 79
Some of the very bad ones.
Hank Williams Jr in the late 80's Was drunk, played 2 songs half assed and walked off stage.
Aerosmith in 77. the sound was so bad in the kingdome
Black Sabbath in 77?. Just before the breakup. Van Halen opened for them and was much better.
And then there is the show we were going to go to just before a deployment and said Na, we will catch him later. SRV at Kansas City in 90. Should have went.

I was just curious. I think things have changed since the 70's and it has hurt music overall. I'd rather go on a date with Sarah Brady than see any of the stuff that costs big $'s at Pepsi Center or Red Rocks. To me, it is some current pap sensation that will be forgotten in a year. Way too often it is some old fossils cashing in on the past and haven't done anything interesting or original in over 30 years.
To me, live music is a lot of fun when its done in the corners by people who actually like it. It tends to cost $10 to $20 to catch music like that at clubs & small venues and since I don't drink it's cheaper than a movie where I get stuck buying all that popcorn. To me its a joyous experience.
What's not to like about these guys?

Yeah I don't remember him going around the stage much. Not like Reznor.
And I really wish I'd seen NIN at Red Rocks last year. He's put that on hold and is making music with his new wife, Mandaaiq I think her last name is?

Sounds like some cool highlights to a job.
Pop Will Eat Itself
Good call. I had a genuine sample it, loop it, f*ck it, eat it Pepsi tshirt way back when. No idea where it is now.
Late last year I got to see my favorite band playing at the Bluebird. They're pretty popular in the UK, generally playing 5-10k sized venues (they've filled the 70,000 seat Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in their time too). Because they're relatively unknown over here tickets were something like $20. I got to meet a lot of ex-pats who'd driven and flown in from Nevada, New Mexico and Texas just to see them.
Don't be like that and just not tell us who the band is.
I can remember when concert tickets were $5.50-$6.50-$7.50, depending on the seating. Oklahoma State Fairgrounds Arena in OKC. First concert I went to was The Doobie Brothers in '73 or '74.
Aldo Nova at The Rainbow was the first concert I went too.
I have seen Van Halen, Metallica, NIN, Ministry, Bowie, Curve, Def Leppard, Journey, Scorpions, Queensryche, Ratt. Prob missing a couple.
Nowadays you'd have to pay me to go to a show.
Don't be like that and just not tell us who the band is.
I'd be surprised if anyone had even heard of them in passing. They're called Manic Street Preachers.
Oh yeah, I listen to them all the time.
Of course I haven't heard of them.

Apparently my music collection has some overlap with Hoosier's.

Eddie money (the only concert I ever walked out on)
His first tour was a good show. Back in the day I had connections so to speak. When he came to the Paramount in Portland he opened for Santana.
Got to meet the man and it happened to be his birthday. Long story short he liked to party with large amounts of nose candy and I got invited to the after show party. Think I went to bed about noon the next day....
I grew up in a family that loved music. I like just about every kind of music, with the possible exception of jazz.... Also used to live in L.A and hang at some of the Rock clubs there.
I've seen;
Metallica - Pre Kill'em All

Tell ya what, if you ever get a chance to see Johnny Winter, do it! His health is pretty bad, I fear he may not be around many more years. I think he's nearly blind now, if not completely, but still one helluva guitar player.
Betcha I'm the only kid on the block with a pair of these!

The one guy i would have loved to seen was Ol' Blue Eyes
Frank Sinatra.
I have been to many concerts from hair bands to country to the beachboys.
My last 2 concerts were watching my kids perform for school. [Beer]
My concert going life has been so spotty and shitty I think concerts are ruined forever for me. The only ones worth mentioning are a couple of Three Dog Night shows my dad took me to as a kid and I got to see Atmosphere last time I was in Minnesota.
I haven't even heard of most of the groups that Hoosier has been to.
This is because like many others here, you're pretty damn old.
(girlfriend wanted to go, but Fiona is hot)

Nowadays you'd have to pay me to go to a show.
No one here has enough money to pay me to attend a concert unless it's Simon & Garfunkel or (dang I'm old..) Roger Whittaker. For these folks, I'd brave the crowds.
Oh yeah, I listen to them all the time.
Of course I haven't heard of them.
Now that was spit take worthy!
So, I didn't list them because I didn't actually attend the concert, but back on October 30, 2005, I took my daughter and her friend to Boulder to see the Bayside, Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, and Aiden in concert. I could hear it clearly from where I sat outside (UGH!). For those familiar with Bayside (the very young crowd here), this is the concert they played where, after leaving Boulder right after the concert, on their way to Cheyenne, WY their bus crashed, killing the drummer.
