A high-profile Chicago attorney has already stepped forward offering to represent the man pro bono if he faces charges for possessing a weapon.

Good for the shooter and good for the attorney that will help them.

It's flat out illegal to own a handgun in Chicago? How did they ever get away with that law? That should be the #1 goal of NRA to oppose that. I get letters all the time from the NRA about different issues. Do they ever win any cases?

I have a feeling with the DC cases' precedent, the Chicago law will follow suit. However, waiting on the Supreme Court to make a decision is worse than watching paint dry.

Bar-none, the two most rights infringed states in the Union my brother when it comes to CCW, IL and WI. Chi-town proper, "you have a hand-gun in your possession/home, you are a wrong."

You'll see/hear (good) folks trying to defend current WI and "the rest of IL" statutes but at the end of the day; if it ain't "blued, wood and long" the system (and heavy Democratic base) is your enemy in those two states.

Is that Washington or Wisconsin?

Wisconsin, infringed, carry rights denied, non-existant. You are more legally secure re: 2A rights in Washington DC and the state of Washington than you are in Wisconsin.
