That's weird. Last year I did a transfer through him and everything was great. So much so that when I needed to do a transfer earlier this month I emailed him first but never received a response. Then I emailed him again about a rifle he had listed on his site and he never responded. I had to purchase through someone else online (wasn't available locally) and have it transferred to a different dealer.

It's a bummer because I wanted to give him my business.

Bought my M&P compact from Jay at the Tanner in March. Great price, was $100 less than a guy a few tables over. Great guy to deal with. Haven't bought from his website but when I have 2 nickels to rub together again he will be one of the first few I check out.

Cant ask for more

I've done business with Jay. He is a class act and he has some of the most competitive prices you'll find.

He sets up at Tanner in the back of the showroom and has a long beard. Just look for J&J.

Was with my boy at the driver's license place and we just happened to see Jay's store...The Shootin' Shack. Located at 311 E. County Line Rd in the OakBrook Shopping Center (County Line & Broadway). His store is still a lil bare, but he has a great selection of semi-auto handguns, and one rack of shotguns up. He said he will be getting a rack for the AR-15 type rifles soon.

Super friendly guy and pretty reasonable on prices. I can see doing a lil business with him down the road.

Great customer service at The Shootin' Shack.
I bought a XDm .45 with factory SA night sights on it from J last year. When I was shooting it the tube fell out of the front sight. I mentioned it to him and he said let me know what I wanted to do, he'd have a new one shipped out overnight. I had heard great things about SA's customer service so I sent it back to SA. I got it back and put another 75 rounds through it and one of the rear tubes fell out! WTF? I called SA and asked, if I sent it in again, would they put real Trijicons on it. They said sure, for $105.00.
(The SA sights use Trijicon tubes but are made by SA and they had a known problem with the tubes falling out. )

I wondered how long the third tube would last after I sent the slide back to SA. Instead I called J and asked about getting a new pistol. I explained the situation and he said it was no problem, Davidson's would send a new pistol. I called on a Thursday evening and I believe the pistol was waiting for me on Monday, I didn't make it down until Wednesday. When I went to exchange the pistol he assured me that it wasn't a problem as he and Davidson's stand behind what they sell. The new pistol was test fired in September 2011, I figure SA has resolved the tube issues by now and if they haven't I know any problems can be taken care of at The Shootin' Shack.

I have bought a XDm.45 a XD9sc and a Ruger GSR from J and I did shop around, he had the best prices I could find. Go by and check him out, he's a few doors down from the DMV off Broadway and County Line.

I decided on an XD(m) .45 standard frame. Did some shopping around for gun stores in the area online, since it was my first handgun purchase, and I'm new to CO. All the reviews of J&J were great of course, so I went down there to see what he had at his new store. Which of course, happens to be less than 5 minutes from where I work!

They were great to work with and talk to. I priced the same handgun, new and used at other stores in my area (didn't make it up to Jensen's), but Jay's was the best price. I bought it two weeks later :)

Now I've started USPSA and put around 600 rounds through it without any problems. The next time I want to buy a gun, I'm going to Jay first.

Stopped by briefly this morning & Jay is back in the shop. Sounds like they aren't quite sure what's ailing him. Won't go into too much detail cause it's not my place, but at least for the time being he has to go back in once a week for outpatient treatment. If you know Jay, you know he ain't complainin'.

Jay & The Shootin' Shack stand for great customer service & pricing. If you've never been, drop by & support a local business. He's a great guy & he's one of us.

I'm keepin' him in my thoughts. If you're the prayin' type you may want to keep him in your prayers.

Yes they are operational he has employees who are running the store when he is not there as far as I have heard. I would call first before going there to make sure but it is a storefront and they do transfer’s for $20.00 for the first gun and $10.00 for each additional gun per transaction. He is also a Class 3 Firearms Dealer Class 3 Transfers $40.00. Jay is a great guy to deal with!!!

Josh (I think his name is, I'm terrible with names) is running the storefront while Jay is out. They don't have regular hours according to their sign, so I agree, call first. The gunsmith is still in on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I just want to bump this up for jay. I had been working there since September, and I've had the opportunity to meet a bunch of the guys from the forum. Alas, time to move on and I got another job doing IT.
Jay is an awesome guy, please do not hesitate to do business with him. The guy replacing me is going to be my brother in law, and his customer service is top notch.
Jay took me in after I got out of the army, and took me on full time when I didn't even expect him to as I was just hoping to work a couple days here and there.
Buno for jay. Deal with confidence.

Recently completed another friendly, easy-to-complete FFL transfer with J&J. I owed them for a prior outbound transfer, which they did not give me any grief over (I think we both forgot about it, since it had been several months). Good staff, and Jay was there too. They had a lot of pistols at reasonable prices, Glocks, Sigs, etc. Been doing business with J&J for years and will continue to do so.

Thanks Jay!

While inventory is a little low at the moment, the distributors are pretty stocked up. We can order just about anything, save for some 10MM Glocks and most 38SP/357Mag revolvers. Don't hesitate to give us a call.

Also, we are facilitating the transfer for private firearms under the new HB13-1229 law. No need to make an appointment, just come on in.

Also, it was brought to our attention someone claiming to be the manager was here seemingly undermining the hard work and customer service we attempt to provide. I've also been told one of my guys read somewhere people are saying the employees are pulling guns on customers as a routine habit. This is absolutely untrue. I have never seen any of my guys pull a gun on any customer. I won't say what shop is being suggested instead of ours to be "safer", but I will say I am not happy about hearing such unfounded claims in order to draw business there.

Being who I am, i am not going to claim anyone is doing these things to hurt our reputation. Do not let the rumors ruin your chance for excellent customer service and low prices.
