Below is a youtube link of many red light runners. Some of these are kind of funny, others are really serious. Either way it is very important to be
aware and vigilant at red lights. Please take a few minutes to view this video and have a safe June.

If you look at this video, I guarantee you'll look around a lot more at intersections.

In several of these videos, if you look close, you can see the bodies that come flying out of the vehicles - because the passengers weren't wearing seat belts.

Colorado drivers are notorious for running red lights. Even if you have a green light, look both ways before proceeding, it could save your life!!!

Watching this video compilation showing the results of people running "red" lights it may get you to think twice as you approach any intersection. Just because the light is "green" in your direction doesn't mean it's totally safe to go through the intersection expecting all traffic is stopped at the red light. Some of these show that people are totally asleep at the wheel.

Probably texting.

I've seen the one at about 4:30 before. That white truck that runs the light and hits everyone else has a dog in the truck bed that goes flying.

I love the one with the two fire trucks, and the instant karma of snaking the turn lane right in front of a cop.

That said, I am against red light and speed cameras.

Wow... some of those lights were red for like 3 or 4 seconds and people still went right through them!!

I was involved in a MAJOR car wreck when I was younger, so I always drive with a bit more care... but some of these are.... just Wow...

I saw this awhile back and it made me look around at every light.

I am all for "red light" cameras. I have seen several fatal accidents in Las Vegas and here from people that believe they are in that much more of a hurry then everyone else. I seen a pedestrian get hit sun night on Colfax by someone who didnt have time to stop.

Friday night me and the kids were bored so we went to the gas station to get candy bars. I almost got T-boned by a Dodge pickup (I was in my wifes car and it was on the highway, 50 mph zone), the guy ran the red light about 45 seconds after I had the green light. If I hadnt seen it in time he would have nailed my 8 year olds door. Then he honked at me and sped off. If I wouldnt have had the kids with me I would have went and had a talk with him. It was very close to being a real bad night!

I don't think that red light cameras will stop people from running red lights at full speed like in your example trlcavscout. However, I do believe that they cut down on people making left turns through red arrows. People who do that irritate me very much.

Back around 1994, my wife t-boned a guy who did just that (made a left turn right in front of her - SHE had the right-of-way). He got a ticket. She had a major bruise across her chest, was in pain for weeks, needed help getting up when she laid down, and totalled her less than 2 year old car - THEN HIS insurance company had the audacity to offer us about 1/3 of what her car was truly worth. I tried to discuss it with them over the phone - they hung up on me repeatedly. I went to speak to them in person - they threatened to call the police on me when I raised the BS flag to their "comparable vehicle" which was 4 years older, a whole different syle and had more than 100k miles than my wifes car. Things got really ugly with them for a while.

Having a recording a their drivers actions to potentially take to court could have been enough to get them to change their tune pretty danged quick.

No it wouldn't have. They already accepted liability (all the video would prove) and they were just dicking you around on the price.

The Way I've dealt with insurance companies has been fairly simple .. assuming there are no physical injuries in your car ......

mention that lawyer you saw on late night TV and how your starting to get an itchy dialing finger........

I've had checks in a matter of hours after that. ( got rear ended at a stop light by a drunk driver. had a check in my hand in less then 7 days from the time of the accident)

People bullshitting about lawyers never scared me into action when I was a claims adjuster. A drunk driver rear ending someone stopped at a light is a pretty open and closed case.

True it is .. but the company was trying to stall ...
They had not talked to the other driver ( since he was either still in the hospital or in jail ) I was under 25 at the time .. didn't have a Credit Card, so renting a car was not going to happen. I have no family in colorado, so getting a check cut to replace the " brand new to me " car ( I had it for 3 days when I got hit ) was pretty important and waiting was not an option.

I was going to mention that many times a company's hands will be some what tied when they can't get a hold of their a-hole driver. Sounds like they knew what was up and just took the chance. If they were going to pay you anyway, they also should have put you into a rental.

Well doing it this way saved them some money anyways........

I bought a new( used) car that very day with cash LOL

My sister in law, was hit last year just before her wedding with my brother. The dumb ass who hit her admitted he knew he was running a red light, but said he figured he could still get through before traffic started. He said this to the cop on scene. The same cop who knew my brother is a cop.

So in the wedding pictures you see her bruises, cast, and sling. The only reason why it isn't settled yet is they are low balling my sis in law, and she doesn't want to get a lawyer involved yet because it's a slam dunk.

That sucks, get your car totaled and be all messed up in your wedding photos, tough break.

That was so disturbing to watch. As the father of a 15 year old who has visions about his drivers license...he will sit and watch this video.

About 4 years ago Texas A&M was playing CU at Folsom Field. My son's school gave away tickets so we went and enjoyed the game. We decided to walk to the game, we only live about a mile from the field. After the game we were walking home about to cross the intersection of 30th Ave and Baseline Rd in Boulder right across from the dorms. They had recently done road work and had just completed a major change in the intersection, turn lanes, flashing turn signals, etc. We waited until we had the walk signal and proceeded across the intersection. We were headed South across the stree and a car coming from the North decided at the last second to make a right and turn East except we were already in the cross walk. His tires squealed as he turned as hard as he could to make the turn in front of us. I grabbed my son by the back of the shirt and literally pulled him to safety, the car missed us by barely inches. My blood boiled instantly and I yelled (pardon me men and woman who wear the badge) "WHERE'S A FUCKING COP WHEN YOU NEED ONE" Well, I'll tell you where he was, he was watching the intersection from the gas station and immediately took off after this person full lights and siren. The chase was on and he wasn't stopping. He made it about 3/4 mile down the road where the Officer conducted a FELONY stop at gunpoint. Attempted vehicular homicide and failure to stop for a Police Officer were just the 2 first charges. Add resisting arrest, suspected DUI, and to top it all off...a large bag of "unknown white powdery substance". I even got to see the eventual traffic stop as it happened on my block of all places. I contacted the CU Police Department and gave them my name and contact info. I was later contacted by a Corporal who gave me the info and I let them know that I was READY WILLING AND ABLE TO TESTIFY should he try to go to court. About a month later I was contacted again by an ADA who told me matter of factly that had I not come forward he would've plea bargained for a 10th of what he eventually got....which was lots of time to think in a small 7'x9' cell. Hopefully his "cell-friend" thinks he's cute!

That was so disturbing to watch. As the father of a 15 year old who has visions about his drivers license...he will sit and watch this video.

My 18yo just got his license a year ago and has already rear-ended another car - totalling the car I bought for him to use.

Both he, and his 21yo sister will be watching this video. I don't want to lose my kids to death because of an accident they could have avoided nor to prison for the same reason!

A few years ago I was attending a men's group at chuch with a guy who (had) worked for Lockheed Martin as a Software Developer. This guy had a great job and a tremendous future. One day (before I met him) he was too busy talking on his cell phone while he was driving to pay attention to the fact that his light was RED. He ran the light, struck another car and killed a woman.

While that is bad enough, he was convicted of vehicular manslaughter and was sentenced to 3 years in prison - leaving his wife and child to fend for themselves. He was mistakenly sent to serve his 3 years at the prison in Limon, CO - what is now considered one of the top 5 worst prisons in the U.S. (or so I'm told).

He asked me if I'd heard of all of the various horror stories that can/do occur to male prison inmates. Of course I had and I listed off many that I knew about. He, very solemnly told me that he experienced ALL of those things!

Since he's been released he hasn't been able to hold a job (he is the first person to be laid off when his employers cut back). He can't get anywhere near the technical/high pay jobs that he once had. His wife divorced him and took their child. His life is a shell of what he once had. The "tremendous future" he saw for himself will never see the light of day.

All this for a moment of inattention. How much worse would it have been for him to live with himself had he consciously chosen to run the red light?

I've been known to squeeze into an intersection as the light is turning red ("Hey, it was pink"!). After that video, at least for a while, I think I'll be stopping. Saving a minute or two is not worth my life nor anyone elses.

I'm just sayin'......
