I wonder sometimes about people... giving way too much information.

Thought I'd also see what opinions people have on this article and building.

$136 mil huh? Bet that could've been put towards balancing our state budget instead. I love how Ritter goes on TV one day and says how drastically we need to cut programs (like k-12 education funding) then the next day is dedicating some wasteful revamp like this...what exactly was wrong with the old building? Oh judges had to walk two blocks and you could hear chains clanking? Man I hate politicians more and more everyday.

Old building is not secure... it's like a family reunion in the hallways.. c'mon kids, daddy has a court date, we can pack a lunch and wave at him as he goes down the hall in chains and shackles...

The old building is still being used though, just adding on essentially.

In contrast, at the current courthouse, judges park two blocks from their courtrooms and use a public elevator, increasing security risks, Flesche said.
Also, the clang of inmate chains sliding across the hallway floors won't be heard anymore as prisoners will be transported from the jail across the street in an underground tunnel.
Once in the courthouse, prisoners will be kept in holding cells in the core of the building until they are sent to individual courtrooms for their cases.

Why would they be telling people this info...?[Bang]

yup. part of this whole project was to make a safer environment, not disclose what those features are after the fact.

I have to wonder what the bullshit burst of light glass that happens to be the breathing lung of the building cost? what a waste...

I am not the artistic kind of guy so maybe others really appreciate it, but the place is a courthouse, not a art building...
more wasted tax dollars yet we have teachers getting let go because of budget cuts, kids suffering in public schools who can't get the help they need because of these cuts...oh and maybe after a short drive on our public roads that the increased tax revenue from registration tax hikes haven't fixed will make an impact on our retarded administration....doubtful.

I do know a few items that were not allowed because they didn't have the money. It's going to be interesting, most of the walls and furniture will be scratched up with gang graffiti and someone will get pushed or tossed off the 5th floor lobby. (hope not, but the design is questionable)

Stop in sometime. :)

I'll actually keep my response to this one short: I agree.
