Yeah. They all drive '60s-'70s rusty iron and hang out at a motel in Grant.

I'm sure we've discussed this before, but where in MO are you from? I'm originally from KC, but went to HS in Odessa, college (2 yrs) in Warrensburg. I also have roots in Nevada, MO (grandparents) and remember growing up meeting LOTS of friends of my grandfather who were always heavily armed and were either militia members or they were actors playing militia members on TV.

Even if CO had a good militia that did everything right and I got interested in joining, I never could due to employment and military retirement pay considerations.

is this group for real???
i was reading through their website and they say they go to different trainings that current military go through, like mountinering and parachute training. and many others located at different millitary basses.

I'm all for getting some training in a group environment and making new friends. Unfortunately, "militias" cover a wide range of attitudes and skills.

So -- and not to pick on these guys unnecessarily -- groups like this may be fine but there's a real problem:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ColoradoFirearmsTrainingGroup/

"3. Are you willing to post your name, age, and city where you live when you request membership?

...

If you can answer YES to all 4 questions, please join us.
If not, we are probably NOT the group for you and your membership request will be denied."

Knowing nothing about the group's membership, you are supposed to blind-post your specifics -- as a gun owner -- and they'll get back to you?

I don't think so.

If you wanna really dedicate a weekend of your time every month join the guard....JESUS!

Did anyone see the costs for some of those things, at least in the real military you can free training and shouldn't be embarrassed about putting it on your resume.

I'm not sure of these guys are for real or not but my first impression is not good. Legitimate or not, giving the same jump wings to someone who simply paid the $$ and was pushed out of an aircraft is an insult to everyone who has gone through jump school. It wasn't that difficult, but an honor that they are trying to diminish. If, as they attest, their rank crosses over to the current military equivalent in times when they are called out, then how do they decide/qualify the promotions? I wouldn't trust or listen to any of their officers, especially if they had never spent a single day in the military.
Just my thoughts...I may be all wrong about them but something seems fishy.

I've met one of the members.... Rag-tag, diluted, and there's no way the one I met would every have survived basic training. This is 'pretend' on a new level.
