well the wife has a 97' 318 V8 has 300k+, excellent condition. burns no oil, 20 mph, compression is about 5% across the range, I put new Energy suspension kit in it and rides like new, course she doesn't let me drive it much.

I have a 95' ZJ with the 4L straight six and 167kmi. It's got a 4" lift and sitting on 33" tall tires. The engine is tired, and it really needs a lower gear ratio to turn those tires well. A lot older than you asked about though.

I just had a guy from the 4x4 board come over yesterday, he fixed a belt pully that the bearings fell out of for $40.

Wife had an 03 straight 6 that was gutless. Other than the weak ass 6 cylinders I think they're decent vehicles and the only way I'd buy another one is to either build it into a buggy or if I got a good deal and it had the V8!

I guess it is just mine then. Just turned 26k, got it back from the dealer today for the third set of driveshafts, seem mine only last about 8k, second front axle and second transfer case. The front springs have settled so much the headlights needed to be re-aimed while we wait for new springs which are on National backorder.[Rant1] It has never been off road. At 8k it also needed both front power window motors. On longer trips it seems to vapor lock, at least it has the symptoms of vapor lock. It has the 4.7 v8 and command trac II 4x4 system. Never again. Glad everyone else has better luck with theirs. Thank goodness it has the unlimited warranty. JEEP, just empty every pocket.

Yup, damned full time four wheel drive. When it is working nothing is better on slick roads, but needing a full rebuild every 8k sucks. You would think Jeep would want to buy it back just so they could stop paying to fix it. I'd guess it costs them $3500 or more each time, so far it has been every 6 months. I know it is a '07, but it was a leftover at my Aunt's dealership, I got it Sept '08 with 9 miles on the odo. Window sticker said $41k, I got it for $22k. Still don't think it was a good deal.

Fuck that, unless you like complete shit for MPG's. [Bang] Besides, you can get it with a Powerstroke, WAY more power and MPG's! Can't go wrong there IMO

Write in to Jeep corporate HQ with copies of the documentation on all the work, and a cover letter like, "This vehicle is obviously a lemon, and taints the reputation of your product, do you want to keep it in the hands of an unhappy owner" blah blah blah. Google around for some sample letters. A complete copy of the documentation. Mail a few copies off. Maybe something good will come of it.

Even though I own a Grand Cherokee, I think I've come to learn that every time someone says something good about a Jeep, they really mean a Rubicon.

I have to agree with Graves here, I have had powerstrokes, the old 7.3 was ok, the newer ones suck. I have a F-350 with the V-10, 4x4 crewcab utility bed dually. Where I used to work had a F-450 6.0 powerjoke, same bed, same welder etc, my truck is 12200 lbs, 400 more than the 450, it got 9mpg and mine gets 11. Mine could pull more, faster. You can have your diesels. Unless it is CAT powered.
As far as trading the Jeep, I think the dealer I got it from is going to buy it back, if it can stay together long enough to make it back to Nebraska.
