Hey all. I finally took my Lancaster-converted Saiga 7.62 to have fun. First group is high left at 100 yards...ok I fix the elevation, but then the windage drum is stuck stiff. Neither me nor anyone stronger (lots of people) could get that biatch to budge with the Tapco sight tool, which worked like a charm on my Tula SKS. Not even with vise-grips will it move.[Bang]

So I soak it overnight in Liquid Wrench which is all I have, and it still won't budge, even with a hammer and brass punch[Rant2]. Trying to find some Kroil before I go to the 'smith, does anyone know of a local source?

According to the interwebz, this is a semi-common problem, but are these drums welded in or what? Does anyone have a tried and true method that does not involve replacement of the entire sight tower?

Try some heat with a torch. Heat it up and be ready to use the sight tool.

Then only other thing I could think of is using a press to press it loose.

If you take it to a smith he will probably do the same things.

They can be a biotch to be sure. In the past when I have had really tight ones I have put the Tapco style tool on them (after a good soak with Kroil) and with pressure on it give the screw on the tool a good rap with a brass hammer.
Worked every time to break it loose. Once you get it broken loose they will move.
