I have a buddy moving in from out of state. Will his ccw from GA be good here in CO, or will he need to get a new ccw in CO? Was just going to ask on here see if anyone knew before driving down to the sheriff's office.

Can you just call them instead of driving down there?

As soon as he changes his DL to a Colorado one, his GA permit is no longer valid in this state. The Dl and CCW permet issued states must match to be valid here in Colorado (WY is an exception). He can use the same certificates that he used to get his GA permit to get his CO one (ie Training certificate) but the GA permit in itself does not necessarily qualify for a CO permit.

GA does have reciprocity. However, if he is MOVING here (read=permanent addy will be in CO) then he needs to get a CO licsence.

Yeah, we could call for sure. I am thinking he will probably have to take a training class out here, as I don't think the county he received his CCW in GA had it as a requirement. He is definately moving out here, so I guess his GA CCW is still good until he actually switches over his DL from GA to CO. Thanks for the info guys.
