It's a free legal license you can assign your images to. It allows for anyone to use or modify the images, as long as the provide attribution (credit) to you, usually linking to your site from the page containing the images.

Question: I have been told that most of the attendees are LEO or Contractor. Hardly any everyday gun toting joe attended. Three of us have been looking into it, and were told dont bother.

On average only 20% - 40% of the students are LEO, Active Military, or Contractor. The demographics of each class is a little different, but your average civilians make up 60% - 80% of the average class.

It has been my experience with the Magpul classes that they have a little higher than normal amount of civilians in their classes. This could be brought on by the popularity of the videos.

We had 25 students in this class and only 3 of us were LEO and no active military or contractors.


Keep in mind most training companies do LEO only or .mil only or LEO and .mil only training as well. Most of the time there will be a side note on the schedule if a class is closed to LEO or .mil only.

I've taken three classes and there is usually someone brand new to either firearms or that particular type of firearm. They usually end up doing pretty well because they don't have any bad habits yet. I'd have to say that very few people get to run their guns like you do in class. 1500+ rounds in three days with shooting and moving are not things encouraged at most ranges, so it is outside the envelope or the norm for most people.

There are some "Level 2" only classes, but most classes are 1&2 three day classes. A level 2 would not be a walk-in class. More the issue is actually being one of the first 25 or so to get into the class.

Wouldn't change the fact I would buy it in a heart beat if I had to deploy with the M-16 my unit has issued me :)

ETA: The smooth looks of the emag go well with it too.

I have nothing to do with the registration process. Generally you can only sign up for classes that are on the website (if they aren't full yet).

They haven't even been released yet. The set you see on Travis' gun is just a pre-production model.

I can help but take joy in the fact that Bob Costa and the other MD instructor are carrying 1911s, while many of the students are using Glocks. I guess we know what the pros prefer![Neene2]

Two questions.

What is the hole on the lower receiver between the rear take down pin and the stock? Is that a custom lower of some kind?

Does he run a Surefire can?

The lower is a KAC SR15 lower, the hole is a QD sling attachment.

I know Travis and Costa run Surefire cans. Don't know if he runs one on this gun or not.


I've got the same upper sitting in the basement. I"ll be using it in a class in a couple weeks.

Interesting.... is each target at a different distance or is teh whole line at teh same distance, just unknown to the shooters? Is it a controlled fire or does everyone shoot at once in time frame?

Everyone is on line at the same time (same distance). It's fairly easy to figure out what the approximate distance to the target is because most ranges have some kind of line, small berm, or other fixed fixture at 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards.

Very likely showing my ignorance, but there were several people shooting in a stance where their left arm was extended almost straight and they were holding the foregrip from the side. What's the purpose? Also I didn't notice any vert foregrips, were the specifically disallowed for the training or just coincidently not used?

That style grip allows you to better control the muzzle for faster follow up shots. The reason people are staring to get away from at the vert grips is because when you grip the rifle that low you do not have as much control. I tried looking for a youtube video to explain it better. This is the best i could fine, its kinda loud, but explains the concept a little better.
