I'm going to shoot my first 3 gun match at Weld on the 24th and I just wanted someone to check my equipment to see if I'm good to go.

Handgun: 9mm shooting 115gr Winchester white box fmj.

Rifle: Ar 15 or M17S shooting Federal XM 193 fmj. I did pull a bullet and made sure it was lead core so this should be all right, correct?

Shotgun: Mossberge 500 20 gauge. 7 1/2 shot and slugs.

I have a shotgun belt to hold the 20 gauge ammo. Rifle and pistol magazines will be held in pockets.
I had to borrow the 9mm as the only large enough caliber handgun I have is Security Six in .357. I have a holster and 3 mags. The mags are 1-15 and 2-10 rounders. Hopefully this will be enough.

I also plan on bringing an open mind and a big old humble pie with me. If anyone else from here is going to be there I sure could use some help and it would be nice to put some faces to the people here. Hope to see you there!

Hey Bull,
Sorry no one has responded yet.

Pistol: 9mm is perfectly OK. Any chance you can pick up another mag -- preferably a 15-rounder? I don't know what Zak has in mind but you may want to be able to have more than 35 rounds on you. 32 rounds is typically max per a stage but up at Weld they like to shoot alot of steel, i.e., probably need ten rounds extra for misses on steel. You'll get by for your first match pulling mags out of pockets. But, longer term you'll definitely want to get some pouches, e.g., enough for 4 pistol mags and one "insurance" AR mag.

Rifle: should be fine. Do you have an optic or will you be shooting iron sights (will determine which division you'll shoot in -- One optic = Tac, Iron with your other guns = Limited)? Typically Weld has 200 yds shots from various positions, i.e., kneeling, prone, off hand, etc.

Shotgun: you'll be fine but just be prepared for quite a bit of loading on the fly. Decide ahead of time what works best for you, e.g., flip the gun and feed into the tube or straight from the belt into the tube w/o flip. Dry fire practice this a bit before the match so you're comfortable. Generally, you'll want to look at a 12 ga. before too long.

But, again, you should be good to go and it'll be good having you at the match. New shooters are always welcome at any of our clubs. The Weld 3-gun matches are always fun.
Best of luck!

K2peaker,
Thanks for the response. I will be shooting in the tac division because I do have optics on both my rifles. I may have to just order another magazine for the pistol. I was worried about this. It's my grandpa's pistol and I have plans in the future of purchasing my own so I was trying to get by without buying one. Thank you again for the response. I'm really looking forward to the 24th.

Don't stress about the pistol mag issue for your first match (or two). If you hand an empty mag back to the RO, he can pass it back and someone can load up a spent mag for you. For your first match, really focus on being safe and getting your hits. That's Job 1 and 2. The speed side of the game comes with repetition (assuming Job 1 and 2). Job 3 is having fun which is a given. The speed thing is Job 4 or lower -- it comes.
