View Full Version : star model b adjustable sights
hey all i got a star model b for a friend and it has adjustable sights. when we took off the sights to get it blasted and then reparkerize it, we came back to see that the sights are a little bent (these are the sights that have the aperature then have a long segment that screws onto the slide, almost ends near the ejection port). so when we put them on, the sight is lifted off of the slide some. any recommendation on how to remedy this? im assuming the sights are made from steel, is there any way to heat it and try to rebend it?

I would not attempt to re-bend anything. Even with heat you will 1-Ruin any temper and 2- Stand a helluva chance of breaking the sight, especially if it is cast steel.
A replacement should not be too hard to find. Let me know if you need any help finding one.
A question or two if you dont mind.
1-Was the sight setting properly on the slide before you re-parked it?
2-If it was, what changed to where it is not sitting correctly now?
You may possibly have a couple of things going on. Depending on the blast process you may have changed the fitment enough to where it is not seating correctly.
You could have blast media down in the works and it is not allowing the sight to sit properly.
You may have sludge from the parking built up in the recess for the sight.
Is there a spring under the arm of the sight? If so it may not be in the correct position.
Let me know if it stumps you too badly.
I will be glad to take care of it for you.........
i can try to get a pic. we removed it before blast and parker process. but when we went to put it back on it seemed pretty bent and won't lay flat. left us scratching our heads
