Hey All,

I have a RIA Compact (4 inch) 1911. Takes 7 round mags. The mags I have are crap. What brand do you guys suggest for 7 round mags?

Wilson combat are great. I have some kimber mags that run well. The hard thing about 1911 mags is that every gun is a little different. So those crap mags you have may be gold in of mine. Best bet is try as many as you can before buying and once you find the goods buy those.

I know this sounds vauge but I hope I helped

Wilson Combat is your best bet. If they don't work for some reason, their customer service is outstanding. Really.

either wilson combat or chip mccormick power mags. both seem to feed well for me

Wilson, chip, and novak have done well for me cant say they'll do the same in your gun though; you'll have to find that out for yourself as I've seen a couple of my mags fail in other 1911's.

I will chime in on Wilson.
I wont carry a 1911 unless it has Wilson mags.

Good to know and thanks for the suggestions. Wilson it is. I've got a Chip McCormick mag and it's the best outta the four that I have. Besides the Chip - the other three are real crap. Thanks guys!

Tripp Mags are the best right now until someone comes up with a better mousetrap.

I use anyones mags as long as they work. The name on the mag isnt nearly as important as if it runs.

Very true those just happen to be the brands I have that work everytime. I do have some unmarked GI contract mags that work decent.

I see a poll here between Wilson, McCormick, and GI mags here....Anyone know how to set one of those up?

I would add the Novak/ACT mags. I use them in my 1911's and they work in every 1911 I've tried them in so far (Colt, Kimber, and Springfield). I run them for USPSA Single Stack Division and they are reliable, more than shooting star or Wilson or CMC's that I own and use. Wilson and CMC's haven't given me issues either, but the Novaks are just so much sturdier.

I haven't gotten to play with the Tripp mags yet, but have heard they are getting very popular in the action pistol 1911 divisions. That doesn't happen unless they will run and take a pounding.
