okay, i am a newbie here on the site and a newbie in building AR's. I am looking for a 16" barrel on Gun broker and I am not sure what M4 feed ramps are referring to. I have the upper and lower ready, just need the barrel. Any ideas what a seller means when they say "Does NOT have M-4 feed ramps". if i want a 16" barrel what should i be looking for? thanks for the help!!!

boils down to. no, you really dont need them. but, you may have to have them now. does your upper have cuts, where the feed ramps go? if so, then you need to buy a barrel with m4 feedramps. if it doesnt, then you can buy either, with m4 feedramps or without. clear as mud right? its simple really. an m4 feedramp equipped upper receiver needs an m4 feedramp barrel/extension. a regular upper can use either...

M4 feed ramps are to assist with feeding reliability in full auto rifles. So yeah, you don't "need" them but it wont hurt if you have them. I would say don't pay extra for them if you have the opportunity not to.

some of my rifles have them some dont. yes, they are design improvement. and are good to have. but, your rate of fire will never warrant the actual need. like OgenRwot. good with or without.
