View Full Version : Facebook for advertising
Does Facebook help at all with people finding your company? I put my company on there, and haven't even had one person visit my page. This was recommended to us by the guy we purchased our Blue Book account from. Just curious if anyone has any success with it.
I use facebook and myspace for my inlaw's business.
Heck, I even have a youtube videos of inventories. Kinda giving visual message that they have almost everything they are looking for.
Craigslist helps as well.
Consumer has to have an incentives to get into facebook/myspace/etc.
IMHO just posting, "we have this" "we carry this" doesn't bring too much traffic.
Coupons, incentives, free first consultation, etc is a good way.
Business owner can also link their main webpages from facebook/myspace to have them order online as well.

Facebook advertising works great. You can specifically target exactly who you want to and you only have to pay for clicks not for appearances. You get to target political views, interests, work, age, gender, location etc etc. It's pretty much endless. I've used it for several things, mostly events, and it worked great.

well tell us the name of the company so we can "Like" you. That then shows on our "Wall" and our friends then go to your Page, etc and so forth!

I use it for a charity event my 501(c)3 puts on each year, we had good success getting our name out and got a large fan base from it. As much as I think Facebook as a company totally sucks, when used properly as a business tool it can be effective.
+1 on the demographics as well, you can really narrow down your target audience to the people who are most likely to care instead of just blasting out to every idiot with a PC and hoping they notice.
Overall, given the cost vs exposure I think we came out ahead on it. Like any marketing tool it's only as good as how you use it, so if you get crappy results, either (1) your product sucks or (2) more likely you just aren't advertising it in an enticing manner, or failing to target the right demos.
But what are the costs for the targeted marketing? I haven't even trekked down this road because I detest FaceBook and MySpace, but marketing is marketing!

Yeah I feel the same way you do, but a lot of my target audience are on Facebook, so I gotta go where the meat is. Cost varies depending on how you set it up - best way to find out is just start setting up a mock ad. You won't get charged unless you publish it, but you can see how the cost structure lines up and play around with the settings to get a feel for it. The ability to target people by interest using free text is very powerful IMO.
