View Full Version : How to Sell Junker Guns?

I used to have a C&R FFL and I picked up some dubious guns to serve as parts or wallhangers. I was single in those days so gun were hanging everywhere. I'm married now and the only one out is a Turkish '93 Mauser with a rusted chamber I got from SOG for $20. It became a very nice lamp.
I have a bunch of these and I wonder if there would be any interest in the following from okay to awful:
1. A couple of 8mm 88 Commission Rifles. These would probably be shootable by somebody who knows how to handload for old rifles. These have the barrel shrouds.
2. A couple of Han Yang 8mm Mausers. I think one has all parts and the other is missing part of the bolt. These were cheap Chinese copies of 88 Commission rifles and I don't think I ever took out of the cosmoline.
3. 71/84 Mausers without bolts and generally looking like hell. These are getting into tomato stake level. Maybe hanging way up on a high wall or anything that doesn't involve shooting. I could post pictures. I wouldn't mind making a little money and someone having them rather than taking the the metal cutoff saw to them.

Add price and post it on the for sale section will get some interest. How much for the Han yang?

The other option would be to wait for misguided "gun buybacks"?

I'll look them over tonight and see what I have. It might be a couple of days before I can get pictures. For prices for offers or selling I usually use Gunbroker's completed auctions to see what bids were. I add a bit since there is no shipping & FFL fees plus its private. The gunbroker Han Yangs were about $80 to $195 which seems high.

This- might net you $50 a pop or tickets to a game.
Donate them to the school in Trindad or to the School of Trades. Take the tax write-off.
Take them to Antique Road Show or Pawn Stars. It will actually cost you more money and time than it is worth, but it might be funny for the viewers. ;)

I'm interested in your 71/84 stuff. What do you have?

I'm falling behind on digging up the info. Nothing great. I have a wonderful 71/84 that can ring a gong at 400 yards - not one of the Gibbs ones, but that one stays. I do have a few qualified as tomato stakes and a functional Gibbs one.
I do promise I'll get to it but things are hectic now.

I'm mainly interested in your tomato stakes. Any of them have any salvagable parts? I've got a project rifle that has me looking for parts.

Looking at the Mausers I think they are in search of a tomato plant. No bolt. Crap stocks. Magazine tubes are toast.

Here's a couple of Chinese Hanyang versions of 1988 Commission rifle:
This one is missing the bolt head, barrel still full of cosmoline:

I'm a glutton for punishment. What would it take to get you to let go of those tomato stakes?
