So, my first pistol many years ago was a cheapo .38 Special F.I.E. revolver and it's showing it's age pretty badly. The bluing has rusted out on the cylinder and the barrel, the barrel (which screws in) is askew - as in when screwed in the front sights are about 10 degrees left of center - and I just keep it in one of my car emergency bags (I keep one in every car and put my retired conceal carry guns in them).
Any way to revive this old piece of crap? It still fires and is an OK emergency gun but I would like to stop the cancer before I pick it up one day and it just turns into a pile of red dust :).
I figured with so many gun nuts on here you might give me some good ideas since I know I can take it to a smith and probably pay five times its worth to MAYBE revive it.
I picked this thing up at Green Mountain Guns a VERY long time ago for like $50!
