star model b extractor pin HELP!

lost one! i tried emailing a few parts companies and none responded. i was curious if anyone could tell me a place to find out the dimensions of the pin. in theory, couldn't i just find the dimensions and then go to a hardware store or shop and try to find one that can be cut or something? it appears finding the part itself would be quite the chore. thanks!

This is just a shot but if you Google the gun for parts you should be able to get the size needed. Local hardware like Lowe's may have just what you need for cheap. Good Luck. [Beer]

i googled it several times and couldn't find a thing. nada. maybe im just slow, but i tried before and couldn't find it. even emailed people who claim to have star parts and asked them and they never responded either. do places like lowes and ace carry pins like that? i wonder if i could just take the slide in and test a bunch til i find one that works?

It might work until you discover that the hardness or a critical dimension is off. Then the extractor goes flying and worst case becomes an implant in somebody. Hardware store roll pins and such are acceptable for non critical components such as an AR gas tube or trigger guard but dont take chances on when the risk of injury is there.
Parts for the Star can be a tough find.

any machine shop should be able to measure the holes with gauge pins, you want a tight fit in the slide, the pin is no doubt metric, and you may be able to buy the right diameter dowel pin at a fastener supply house maybe AAA Meetric, dowel pins are hardened and tempered, split dowels, or roll pins are spring hardness , another solution is the shank if the proper size drill, metric, or wire gauge, the shanks of good quality drills are hard and tough, but not brittle, if you were closer I would say bring over the slide and I coud measure it and tell you what to get, but I am 65 miles east of Denver ,if all else fails , you could mail the slide assy only to me, and for a vey small charge I would fix it, or send it with return postage and I will measure it and tell you what you need, GRATIS, your gun would be out of commision awhile, but sounds like it is anyway, lots of luck!
