yes, you are correct. Colorado Dept of Parks & Rec would be the people. Any state park with personnel on site can usually do this for you. I think it's around $30.

exactly what mx'r said. i have an old town canoe. but, the canoe i sold last year, I had a trolling motor, fish finder, and of course the deep cycle battery in it. I kind of miss not paddling.

and you need numbers on the canoe.

noise maker(whistle, horn etc.)
numbers,
fire extinguisher (if gas outboard)
flag if someone is getting out or overboard

[Tooth]I know this thread is old, but I am the op. So surley that makes it okay to pick up where I left off. right?[Tooth] On the colorado boat registration form, it requires a hull identification number for vessels. My canoe does not have this. anyone know what to fill out in this section or where to get a HIN?

first, you dont need it unless you are running the motor.

second, they will do the registration at the state parks. they give you a temp. then send you something in the mail permanent. you then buy the numbers or have them made. its actually cheaper in my experience to go to a sign shop, than buying premade numbers from walmart/sportsmans/bass pro.

Depending on manufactuer the Hull/vin # is stamped torawrds the stern or bow on outside, close to the gunwale.

British description but works here too.
