so, wife is getting more into shooting now. she is liking my xd9 more and more, so maybe it's time to get her something.

little background... we like shooting IDPA, Steel Challenge, and probably USPSA eventually, and just regular plinking. she has a ruger mkIII for plinking and we are looking for one to shoot steel challenge, IDPA, and USPSA.

preferably we would like to get another 9mm because ammo is cheaper and if i get into reloading, we only need to reload one type of ammo. however, we are open to other choices as well. if i had all the money, i wouldn't mind getting another xd9. however, in reality, i don't have all the money and would probably like to have different guns to shoot as well. she also really like 1911, expensive taste of hers, so that might be one of the choices.

anyways, she thinks the grip on xd is still slightly bigger than how she would like, so any suggestions on a pistol that's good for our use and with a smaller grip?

we will probably go into the store and try a bunch of them out as well.

any helps are appreciated! thanks!

I have a Glock 26 you're more than welcome to play with a little. It's my wife's carry gun and she loves it.

the new xdm has interchangeable grips, but i believe they are bigger, not smaller, than xd as well. i could be wrong though.

A long time ago I picked up the S&W Ladyhawk 9mm model 3953, it's one of the most comfortable grips and most accurate 9's I've ever shot. My fiance (and everyone else for that matter) prefers shooting this over any of my other pistols. I would be happy to meet you at a range if you want to try it out.

Have you tried a Browning Hi-Power?

That is the one pistol that seems to "fit" pretty much everybody.

(Plus, they're just plain awesome)

Try the new M&P's, I have small hands and they fit pretty good. A plus is the changeable backstraps.

Jeesh, finally...
The S&W M&P has a smaller grip with the small backstrap. I have yet to find a lady that didn't like the way it fit their hand. Its almost like they had a female on the design team specifically trying to make a gun to be used by women for competition and carry.

Yeah, my fiance really likes my M&P40c, and I only have the medium grip on it.
