so, the wifey has tried several more guns and no luck. she really like the grip on 1911, so i will probably look for a 1911 chambered with 9mm.
what do you guys think of 1911 chambered with 9mm? good? bad? suggestions on which ones?
taurus has one that's decent priced too but out of stock almost everywhere.

What about the .22lr 1911 that PanamaDave is selling?

Had the same exact problem with my wife.
Bought her a RIA in 9mm.
It is a great, soft shooting, accurate gun.[Beer]
She shoots it good and carries her everywhere (where it's legal).
The Shootist has the GI model around $400.
Taurus 9mm 1911 has not yet been released[Rant1]

she already has a .22lr, ruger mk3.
i wish i could buy them all though...
Well, I tried.
With my wife we tried lots of different stuff and she finally settled on the G26... although she really liked the 338 Lapua... but she'd have a hard time carrying that! HAHA.

thanks! looks like we will be visiting the shootiest soon.
STI Triojan. 600 rounds and not one issue.
STI Tactical in 9x19.
30-35,000 rounds (probably more) so far. No issues.
The STI Trojan or the Springfield 1911 in 9x19 are a great deal.
You know how hard it is to find a gun with the same grip angle as a Dyson?

I thought that was the point of the Glock? [ROFL3]
NightHawk LadyHawk if you're baller.
Check out CZ-75s..similar weight, similar function (same function in the CZ-75BSA, which I have and adore).
Same with a Hi-Power or clone...there was plenty of $350 Hi-Power clones at the last gun show that I've read function very well.
The CZ-75 and the Hi-Power are supposed to be improvements on the 1911 design.
I can hardly operate the slide release on my CZ, I wouldn't ever expect my fiance to be able to.
Look into the SA EMP as well......my girlfriend really like it.

[Eek3] Mine isn't a problem...I can't reach it with my thumb for sure, but the slide snaps forward with very little pressure on the release.

Same here.
The only 1911 I have to compare would be my Sig P238, but the slide does release much easier. I don't know if a full size 1911 is any easier on the controls than the CZ, though.

Broomhandle Mauser?

I just kill me [LOL]
Perfect response TFOGGER.
Kailculus: I think there are more than a few 1911 type guns made in 38 super as well. Could look into that.
The factory grips on my CZ are WAY fatter than a 1911, so if you went that route, you may have to get some slim grips. Also, unless I missed it, you didn't tell us WHY your wifey likes the 1911 grip. Do you think it is more the angle or the width?

i think she likes it mostly because it's thinner than others so she can actually get her hands around it.

hopefully she will like it... there will be no more excuses...

There is a smart assed comment in there somewhere...

If she doesn't like it, I'll take it. :)

True; however, the dang thing is a lot easier to push so that when I get done and can go shooting, at least my arm isn't all tuckered out! [ROFL1][ROFL1]
