Man, for a gun forum there sure are a lot of knowledgeable people on here... (drum hit)

Another thought concerning electronics:

I was just able to purchase a 22 inch moniter for my new computer which is bigger than my TV (20 inch). So, is there a way to hook up BOTH a coaxial (future cable) and an HDMI from my DVD/BR player thingy to the moniter and get rid of the TV?

I don't really know what I'm looking for.

I guess for future cable: Coaxial to D-Sub or DVI-D
I guess for DVD/BR player: HDMI to D-Sub or DVI-D

There is no coaxial input into DVD, only internet/component/and red/white/yellow plugs. There is no HDMI on the moniter.

Thoughts? Hope I didn't confuse everyone.

HDMI is tougher, you'll end up converting and thus not needing HDMI. There are boxes you can hook up to your monitor to allow it to get TV signals via COAX, S-Video and regular RCA connections. I used them at my place for a while until LCD's dropped in price, they made really good TV's. I actually have a couple around that I would sell - one of them never opened.

If you want to make another purchase pickup an acer 23" from newegg at 179. Has rgb, dvi and hdmi inputs. Ive ordered about 30 and all have been great.

I won't be making another large purchase for a while says the money holder, lol....

Was hoping there was like some sort of splitter cable-adapter or something.

Have you looked at TV tuner cards to add to your PC?

Not sure what your set up is but something like this? (as an example)

I had a Hauppage! WinTV-1600...Kelly has it now :)

Good card. But doesnt work that well if your tv provider uses a box.

Also, works best if you have XP Media Center, Vista or 7, because they have Windows Media Center, which works best.

he's not wanting to use his Computer to watch TV... he wants to use his MONITOR as a TV... which the lines are starting to blur on.
I Have Monitors I can uses as TVs and TVs I can use as Monitors.
I will look at his monitor when I go down for the build...
whenever he gets the parts in :)
