Any of these hosted in Colorado Springs? I know they are a dime a dozen, but I was thinking I'd like to take a class!

Found this info...

https://www.glocktraining.com/Schedule.aspx

One in Aurora in Nov (for LEOs only)
One in Walsenberg in Jan 2011

Seems to be $150

There's also an option to host a class if any of the local businesses/ranges want to step up and do that.

Cope Reynold's from http://www.southwestshootingauthority.com/index.html gives Glock armorer classes. And he'll train us lowly civies - none of that elitist LEO only BS.

If there seems to be enough interest I'm willing to contact him to see if he's willing to come up to Denver. His AO is Farmington, NM, which isn't that far, but for a basic armorer's class a little too far IMO.

What do you guys think? Cope can make Glock's rock (even more so... :) ) He does a lot of custom work, too: http://www.southwestshootingauthority.com/612600.html

I contacted Mr. Reynolds. Here's the reply (emphasis mine):

I would be glad to come up there and do a class if you think we can get enough people together to make it worth while. My schedule is pretty full right now and I don't think I have any openings until Oct. Would that work for you? Also, this class has things in it that you cannot get from the factory class but be advised that it NOT the factory certified class. As long as everyone understands that and is OK with it, I'd be glad to come up and do one for you.

He didn't yet say what his minimum # of students is to make it worthwhile. Or the cost (I think it's around $100). But I'm willing to be the "point guy" and continue to inquire/help set it up if enough folks would be willing to speak up now.

Thoughts? Any other interest?

If it's not the certified factory armorers class will you still get a certificate as an armorer?

Don't believe so, no. I don't think one would be "certified" (although, many of you guys here already are...[ROFL1] J/K), but Cope I believe gives out certificates attesting that you took the class, etc, similar to how other training schools do. I'm not sure how that would look or compare on a resume, however.

If you guys were wanting that for your resume, I understand that on one level. That's cool. But if you're just looking to increase your knowledge and give yourself a more intimate knowledge of Glock pistols, then Cope is your man to make that happen. And like he's quoted in the above, he'll give you extra inside info you wouldn't get otherwise.

So a question: Is the certification mainly attractive for a resume? Any other reasons? I'm simply curious.

If I'm spending the time & money I'd like to get the cert. For a resume...maybe one day...I'm in the military at the moment, so not looking for a job or anything at this time.

Understandable.

I have no issues with getting the certification. The main problem is the LEO's ONLY issue for us commoners.

Is there another way to get in a class? Would one have to be a GSSF member?

Yes you have to be a member of GSSF or LE. Its $150. With the "Glock" armorers course you can then order parts from them at discount. I will wait till january and take that one.
