I managed to lose my wedding band while trimming the trees in the front yard (those of you that have been to my house are thinking, "Whatever, like he ever does any yard work! [ROFL1]), got a replacement, but the little woman never really liked it, nor did I, really.

So, I decided to make my own today:

I know it's not really related, but I thought ya'll might dig the process.

I fawking dig it, elaborate on how this was done. That is a man's wedding ring, not this shit you se with diamonds, and what not. Simple, tough, and cheap. I like it in every aspect.

Thanks, man. I started with a 3/4" stainless nut and went at it with an angle grinder to thin it, a bench grinder to shape it, a file for the threads, then polished it.

Cool, I like it! I have a real fancy one myself. [Tooth] Titanium. Cost $99 bucks. Six years today and still good as new.

I have the Titanium too. It is so light you can't feel it. 10 years on mine. I rarely take it off. It looks great with it is scuffed up with scotchbrite. [Coffee]

That is super gangster, I love it! I wanna know how it holds up.

I told my wife that I wanted a heavy sombitch, cause if I hit her with it I wanted her to know it! J/K, I got hers at Shane Co and they wanted like $300 for the same exact thing I wanted for me, a heavy Tungsten one that we eventually got off Overstock.com for $43. But 30 cents and labor for a ring is awesome! Good work dude, I love it!

Do they make rings out of inconel?

Edit: Found one. Awesome.

Dear The Internet,

Since you are artistic, I'd like to see what you'd come up with on one of those carve your own pipe kits. I know it's not metal, and I know it's not guns, but could be fun for you.

Time to try your hand at engraving something small. Maybe with:

Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, Ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul.

(yeah, I'm a nerd)

Is that the "One Ring to rule them all" thing? If so, I was thinking that as well.

Yep, just looked it up. I'm on board!

nerds... the ring could only be forged from the volcanic mount of Doom!

We know that, but you can still use a Dremel to make the words.

Nice! Gave me a headache, though, by thinking about engraving something that small on something that small made from stainless steel...[LOL]

Dremels are the devil.

That ring will oxidize rapidly against your skin. It will be hell to keep it clean and not stain a ring around your finger.

Inconel and Ti are hard enough they cannot cut them off in almost all medical facilities in an emergency. I just don't wear any jewelry anymore. On rare occasion, I will, but it's pretty rare.

Yeah, I can see the headache ... especially since the inscription should look like this:

I was reading about that when I was looking into it. From what I understand, Tungsten is just as strong, but brittle so it can be shattered.

I'd be worried about that if it was plain steel, or if I had used plain steel brushes, but I'm not that stupid. Thanks for your input, though...

Titanium is my daily wear but the Mrs got me a Tungsten one last year for our anniversary (21 years-gawd is she a glutton for punishment[Tooth])
I just wear the Tungsten on the few occasions we go out and about. Awesome but a touch on the heavy side.

I love the Ti one though.............

Very nice work. I would never even have imagined doing something like that. You definitely have game!

I'm on my second wedding ring too. Lost the first one about 3 years into the marriage while I was working on my car (took it off).

About a year or so later I found a clone of the first ring and bought it (wife made me buy the matching womans ring with it as "punishment" for losing my original ring).

We've been married 21 years now too (good job BPTactical). We'll have our 22nd anniv. on Nov 1 and I REALLY want another ring. What I have is a nice yellow gold nugget style with 3 small diamonds diagonally across the top. The two problems with this is that the back of the ring is hollowed out to allow the diamonds to "breathe" - when my fingers swell, the ring just cuts into my finger. Secondly, the 14k gold is soft enough that it never holds it's shape anymore and it doesn't fit right.

I've been considering something like this:

Well....for the rest of us who are married and in hell, I considered making a barbed wire or maybe german razor wire wedding band. But my wife would fail to see the irony. [Bang]

It still hasn't oxidized, SA Friday. The only ring around my finger it leaves is when I don't wear gloves while spray painting or air brushing without gloves...
