I'm new here so please be gentle.
The last time I had anything to do with an AR style was in 1985 just befor I got out of the Army in 1986, and it was an M16. We had one on each of our M1 tanks as a crew weapon and each crew member had to qualify with it in addition to our 1911 personal weapon.
I had plenty of experience with M16 and M60's before becoming a 19K (tank crewman), when I was going thru BCT and 63N training in 1980.
Now we just had a nephew stay with us for 10 days who is going into the USMC to be a Combat Engineer, and he got me the bug to get an AR.
However, the cash budget won't allow for that for another years, so I'm thinking of possibly trading a rifle I have, in hopes someone would be interested.
What I have is a TC Encore, .308, with both rifle and pistol stocks, Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9 x 50. I inherited this from my dad in 2000, with a Weaver 4x scope on it, by I upgraded to the Bushnell.
Dad only fired a box thru it and I've put <100 rounds thru it.
It's a fun gun to shoot and shoots well, but I'm just not into the single shot unless it's a Sharps.
I stmbled on the Del-Ton AR's and am getting interested and it seems a lot of people on here say good things about them.
So I'm looking for input from those of you with AR experience:
Would trading the TC for an AR be something anyone would consider a good trade?
I would really like an AR in .308 so I can ralize the handloads, dies, brass, etc. I already have, plus use it as another hunting rifle for my family.
Thanks.
