I'm new here so please be gentle.

The last time I had anything to do with an AR style was in 1985 just befor I got out of the Army in 1986, and it was an M16. We had one on each of our M1 tanks as a crew weapon and each crew member had to qualify with it in addition to our 1911 personal weapon.

I had plenty of experience with M16 and M60's before becoming a 19K (tank crewman), when I was going thru BCT and 63N training in 1980.

Now we just had a nephew stay with us for 10 days who is going into the USMC to be a Combat Engineer, and he got me the bug to get an AR.

However, the cash budget won't allow for that for another years, so I'm thinking of possibly trading a rifle I have, in hopes someone would be interested.

What I have is a TC Encore, .308, with both rifle and pistol stocks, Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9 x 50. I inherited this from my dad in 2000, with a Weaver 4x scope on it, by I upgraded to the Bushnell.

Dad only fired a box thru it and I've put <100 rounds thru it.

It's a fun gun to shoot and shoots well, but I'm just not into the single shot unless it's a Sharps.

I stmbled on the Del-Ton AR's and am getting interested and it seems a lot of people on here say good things about them.

So I'm looking for input from those of you with AR experience:

Would trading the TC for an AR be something anyone would consider a good trade?

I would really like an AR in .308 so I can ralize the handloads, dies, brass, etc. I already have, plus use it as another hunting rifle for my family.

Thanks.

Its worse than Crack

Its Like Crack on Meth with a side of Opium dipped in LSD.

They call it "Black Gun Syndrome."

But if you still dare to try you can put your .308 up on the Trading post and see who Bites.

S&W M&P AR-15's are on sale right now for $699 with a $100 mail-in rebate. They are well made, and for the price, I don't think they can be beat.

Edited to add: I'm not a dealer. I'm only guilty of introduction (that's a cop joke).

+1
The M&P's are great rifles and at a great price. I wish I was in the cash to buy a couple of em at that price.
I would take the S&W over the DelTon.

Thanks. I saw that but at $1250 it was beyond the available $$ just now. Plus it's sold now.

I may put the TC up in the next day or two and see what happens.
