Diggin your avatar brother. SIG229 IWB here, typically carried at the 2 o'clock. Just occurred to me today that I need to spend more time shooting my CCW ammo and not just the cheap crap that I reload. Don't think I have shot either of my two mags that I have had in rotation for the last six plus months. How do you typically handle ammo rotation? Not sure the spring life of these SIG mags, not wanting to kill them I rotate the mags about every other month and let the spring out when not in the weapon. Your protocol?

Enjoying the forum since taking so long to post since joining.

I haven't worried about it too much but I typically rotate my magazines every few months.

9x18 mm (Makarov or Polish P64), in a belt, IWB or Pocket Holster with a NAA Mini-Revolver in .22 WMR as a BUG. Occasionally a 1911 in .45 ACP (winter months) and very rarely a .357 mag or 7.62x25 mm Tokarev (trail guns).
Not sure what buttons to click [Coffee]. My preferred caliber would be an AK-47 type rifle in 7.62x39 -- but that isn't very practical.

I never rotate mags or ammo. I selected 10mm in lieu of .40 S&W.

I carry .40 just because.

9mm, 357sig, 40sw, 45acp are my favorites.

Currently 9mm.

Does anyone want to shoot through a National Geographic?

Just jerkin yer chain. [ROFL1]

There are a ton of Calibers missing on that poll

aside from being Butt-hurt about the .40 S&W missing,
I also noticed 5.7 wasn't there either.

so what, we are being elitists against the other calibers?
they cant play the CCW Games?

woooo.... 5.7x28mm !! My wife's favorite.
That is her 2nd firearm. FN FiveSeven. She got hers around 2005. That was when SS192 were dominant and SS195LF and SS196 were new.
Around 2005, USG and IOMs were about same price. We should've purchased the IOM model.
USG were kinda new, so we got USG. :D
Brand New price of FiveSeven were about 75% OF what it cost New now.

Laugh if you will, but I carry a little Beretta tip-up barrel .25 occasionally when I'm riding. I have a vest with a built-in "holster" pocket and it works great in there. It's certainly not my preferred caliber, but I'm pretty sure it would work fine if I needed it. I just don't get too twitterpated over the whole caliber issue. I also carry:
Kel-Tec PF9 (9MM)
S&W 3906 (9MM)
Glock 17 (9MM)
Kimber SIS (.45)
S&W 66 (.357)I'm all about equal opportunity with my guns.

Wow, 32 people voting and I'm the only one carrying a 380! I'm really surprised at that. I carried a 9 for a long time but found this Kel-Tec 380 that's super light and small framed but is hyper accurate.

I swear I saw a post of Hoser's saying he preferred some small caliber guns to carry. I thought it was .25, but I of course could be wrong.

For carry I think a better list would be

.22
.25
.32
.357
.380
.38 (Special/Super)
9mm
.40 S&W
10mm
.45 ACP/GAP

I can't see someone concealed carrying .223 or .308... and I think we'd mock anyone who carried .50 in any flavor.

My Wife Likes my Ruger 40 but its too much for her. I told her if she Got through Navy Boot and her SP School, Got her Citizenship I would get her a FiveSeven in HER name (She could get Citizenship free with Active duty service)

She has been wanting to be a military Police officer since she was a Kid.

I carry depending on my clothing, in the summer I carry a Ruger LCP IWB at 7:00, during colder weather I'll carry a GLOCK 23 .40 SW IWB at 7:00.
I have just about every other caliber and will on occasion carry any of them--- while the LCP is the most convenent to carry, for me the Glock 23 is the best compromise for reliability, size, capacity and stopping power.

I would prefer SR-3M 9x39 w/ alucore short range ammo for concealed carry... But, if we speak about handguns, I only carry .45 Auto.

Winter (and now while I wait for my 380) Glock 36 slim 45 with CT Laserguard in a Cross Breed holster

Summer (as soon as it arrives) S&W Bodyguard 380 in an Uncle Mike's pocket holster

My carry is a 1911 Operator and a custom holster by Michael Kole. A little heavy and big but comforting nonetheless. The lady carries a Sig P225/P6 in 9mm. I really like that pistol too.

9mm being the leader is a given, since it's so popular and common. But it's nice to see the good ol' .45acp holding down the #2 spot!

Why not to get 9mm instead ? What is better with .380 ?

Yep. I had lots of friends who were in ROTC and went to military with greencard.
I've heard they are the ones who gets called first when they receive citizenship. Afterward, they start the citizenship handout to civilian residents.
I give them extra thanks for serving our country.

Size. I have a Kahr P380. I used to carry that every once in awhile when I wanted a nice front pocket carry. That thing is crazy small and unobtrusive.

Carry gun is now a Kahr P45. Love it. It's a handful to shoot but wicked accurate and super-slim.

Used to CCW a Glock 19 and Glock 26... and carry a 1911 at work (openly). Have no problem with 9mm but when the chance to move back to .45 came back up, I jumped.

Have no problems with .40 -- just don't really feel the need. I trust the 124gr 9mm JHP when I have to and carry 230gr Gold Dots out into the world.

I'd carry a .380 if I didn't have a choice on something compact and larger caliber... and I'd make sure my running shoes were laced tight.

my .02
