View Full Version : Will a Browning High Power reliably feed hollow points?

We're going to a wedding tomorrow and I bought the groom some Hornady Tap 124gr FPD. I know he's got a Browning High Power. Unfortunately, I could only afford to buy him one box, so it's not like he can shoot a few boxes to make sure it feeds correctly. Anyone know if the High Powers have any issues feeding hollow point stuff?

Thanks.

My Hi-Power has never had any issues shooting any ammo that I have fed it.

Depends on the HP. My MKIII's all run 100% on anything I feed them. Older models with the "humped" feedramp may or may not.
If an older model, he might try the Federal classic # 9BP ; these have a more rounded profile and have a good reputation for expansion.

The Mark II and Mark III have a different feed ramp from the previous models
and will feed hollowpoints fine.

The pre Mark II can only reliably handle HP like the Remington HP with a small opening and rounded nose.

You received correct information above.

I guess it doesn't matter since he never even had a High Power. One of the only other times we talked he told me that's what he had. Turns out he never had one, did have a 9mm, but has since sold it.

Oh well, that's what recites are for I guess.

Well, your friend missed out by not owning a Hi Power.

I hope you have a 9mm, receipts don't matter with ammo most of the time.

I once told the Wal-Mart lady I wanted a few boxes of .45, she sold me a few boxes, I got home and realized she sold me a few of .40 instead of what I asked for. I ended up selling it to a friend after they wouldn't take it back.

Meh, I'm sure he'll figure something out.
