Are AR15's with a collapsible stock, flattop upper, and a 16" barrel legal for NRA high power? A friend of mine wants to participate but I am unsure if his rifle is legal.

There is a whole mess of reasons why it might not be, but it must look 100% issue from the outside and have a 4.5 lb trigger.

So Magpul anything on it is bad, no LaRue, ect. The stock must be a GI issue or a look-alike.

However I dont play HP anymore. Best bet is to call the Match Director and ask or get a copy of the rulebook.

M4 variant with a legal 16'' Barrel is allowed but must not be visually upgraded as per what Hoser has said.

If you have a phone number, always try that first.

No phone number, just email. And does the collapsible stock qualify as the M16A4 stock? I'm just not familiar with the AR platform.

i shoot high power CMP and NRA matches and i just got back from camp perry Ohio from the national pistol and rifle matches. your friend could shoot his gun in a match if you talk to the match director most will be ok with it, but he may not qualify for service rifle maybe match rifle which has less rules. the 16 inch barrel would be ok for reduced course matches. as fare as across the course 200,300,600 yards you might see some issues.

what i use is an armalite AR-15A2 fixed A2 stock with 20inch krieger barrel with 1/8 twist barrel free floating, also my gun weighs about 16-20 pounds as i have lead weights in the stock and foregrip! i use 1/4 quarter sight adjustments. i also shoot a 77gn hpbt Molly coated bullet for 200 and 300 yards as well as 80gn hpbt molly coated for 600 yards! if you have any question send me a pm also let me know what matches your planing on going too as i attend quit a few across Colorado. plus have the emails and phone numbers of most of the match directors!

there is a clinic for high power once a year at BCGC in bailey Colorado starting around spring everything is provided besides a few items somthing to keep an eye out for the cost is very reasonable!
