View Full Version : hardcore pawn
So tru tv has a copycat pawnstars show called hardcore pawn.
It's like the jerry springer version of the history channel show because, well... it's detroit.
So the shop owner that looks like ed powers takes his whole family to a shop to buy guns. they pick stuff out, shoot some at the range.
then when they are checking out the pawnshop owner asks the gun shop guy if they can get a deal on holsters, and the guy goes apeshit. He tears up the 4473 and screams at them to get out.
the pawn guy claims they were going to spend over 3k on handguns.
I'm just curious to know what really happened, and what was edited out.
I think if I was running a gun shop and a whole family spent thousands on guns in one stop I wouldn't have a problem giving them a holster or two.
But then again, if I was spending the $$ to arm my family and asked for discounts on stuff and the shop owner said "no discounts, sorry" I'd say alrighty then and just buy what I need.
I could be wrong, what say ye?
I try to avoid shows where the main point of watching is "drama."

+1. I watched Ice Road Truckers for a while but every time they would have the slightest issue there was this entire sixty second CGI of how "this can end in disaster" with the truck going off the mountain - at this point I said "this is far too much made up drama for a documentary". I'm sure this is the only time I'll watch that Top Shot too for about the same reason.

I have enough drama in my life that I don't need any extra from the Boob-tube.
I like NCIS and Criminal minds for my "drama-dosage"
Tosh.0, south park, American Dad, Family Guy.
Dont get me wrong, its all varying degrees of shit. but I find the shit listed above entertaining on some level.
The Wife and I seperate on Tuesday and Wednesday Evening while she watched her "Americas got Talent"
Talk about shit... if you cut out the 4 Minutes per Contestant of overly dramatic music and "suspense" waiting for the decision, the whole show would be 10 minutes long.

That show is probably fake, unfortunately (or fortunately I guess...), just like some of the other shows on TruTV. Operation Repo, another show on TruTV which is ridiculous, but also scripted and acted...

Maybe the gun shop owner got tired of having a camera crew in his place all day long and just lost his cool. Or maybe the director and producer thought that things were going too smoothly and paid for a side of drama to help complete the meal.

I think this is the best answer yet.

Maybe its because its Detroit and serfs aren't allowed to carry guns there, just own them and keep them locked up and unloaded only to be brought out to go to the range and then locked right back up.
Only a criminal would want a device to carry one of those evil things!

Having worked the retail end of the firearms industry for a while I can understand (although not necessarily agree) with a proprietor not giving anything away just because somebody was dropping $3K.
$3K isnt really that much in firearms, especially with the low profit margins on firearms.
Say the business made $300.00 on the sale, now they are expected to eat $150.00 in holsters? Not much of a business plan....
T-shirts or maybe a 10% break on the holsters OK.
Giving up maybe 50% of your profit on the sale. NOT!
