So, I pulled the scope off of my long distance AR to see about ring size on the Rem 700PSS since I'm going to use the same type scope on this one and it plopped onto the gun like it belonged there. I hand tightened it down and checked clearances and eye relief. It was fricken perfect. Short of rotating and spreading the rings, it was dead on and visually aligned level. It's amazing what taking the time to properly mount a scope does.
This rifle has a long way to go until it's set up like I want, but I'm going to do it in steps. I will play with this gun to learn more about long distance shooting. Some day, I'll have enough money to pop for a Tac-Ops Bravo and the skills about the equipment and shooting will come into play then. But until that day, I plan on playing with this one and airing out 168s when I can.
It's gonna be awesome.

Same question I had.

Who ever made it, it's steel, 20 MOA, and solid so I'm rolling with it unless it proves itself a problem.
Pic of 600 Yard A-zone hit with this rife required or the interwebz will implode [Muaha]

I'd like to try that some day. All I have access to is 200 yards. [BooHoo]

As per Cha-lee's request. (I think that's the first time he's ever seen a bullet shot out that far and actually hit the A zone [Beer].) I adjusted the trigger too. It was way too heavy. I think I might get it polished up a little also by someone to get rid of the creep in it.
168gr Fed GMM ammo.
Edited to add: the 7mm hole was at 400 yds the time at the range before this. The three lower hits were the 223 at 400 yds also the trip before this one. The bottom left hole is without wind dope. The top one circled is with wind dope. I went one click too many with my dope.

You are on speed dial the next outing. This was impromptu right after we set up the CO state pistol match. Thus, the previously used target. I was just going to zero out the scope at 100, but someone wanted to air it out, so...
Yee-Haw, sounds good. .... quick question though, why is your targets "face" blacked out? Gotta hide the identity or something? hehe.
Take that front ring and push it forward a notch or two. Cant hurt, might help.
Bring it to the next Pueblo match. We can drag out some steel and play for a bit before you head north.
Also, buy 175 Sierras or 155 Lapuas instead of 168s. You will thank me later.
i saw that rifle go up for sale that is the exact rifle i am looking for if i had the cash i would have tried to buy it. good snag SA Friday![Beer]

Come on Ginsue. Dream big!
http://www.tacticaloperations.com/cover4.html Their Bravo is what I will eventually end up with, some day, when I'm rich and shameless.
Maybe you can use your rich monies to help fund the completion of their website. ;)

Rgr that, I've been staring at that mess for over a year and it nevers gets completed or transfer links don't work etc... pisses me off! lol. But the man is busy making some amazing rifles. I'd like to own one one day as well.

It is just a Remington 700 with new clothes.
I will take my AI anyday. Great trigger, shorter bolt lift, end user ability to change pre-chambered barrels, CDI factor of 10, ect...

Wow Hoser, the "steel safari course" thingy sounds like a ton of fun! What is a typical "brief" like? Is it a scenario situation and you must find the threat and eliminate it or what? Cool stuff. One of these days, lol.

Aired it out again this afternoon. Did some chrono ing of ammo too:
168gr Fed GMM 2630fps
175gr Fed GMM 2680fps
175gr BH M 2620fps
Shot a single group at 100 yds with all three as the first round being a 168gr dead center. The 175s shot a touch lower and a touch to the right. The groups are TINY and on top of each other. I haven't measured them yet.
Then I aired out some at 600 yds. Still trying to dial in the adjustments, but I put three in the upper half of a USPSA target of the Black Hills and just two of the 175gr Fed GMM (Only fired two for group after getting it on paper at 600). I really wish the 175 GMM wasn't so fricken expensive. I gotta role my own this winter.

I have a Sightron SIII mil-dot 3.5-10x44 on it.
Here's the 100 yd target. I almost pulled the target after the first round, the 168gr FGMM. It was just dead on.
I adjusted the trigger from the factory setting. It's a nice 2-2.5 lbs now. It was somewhere in the 5-6lbs range from the factory.[Puke]
A real man would leave the 5lb trigger in there........[Neene1]
Oh yeah...... I want a rematch with the 600 yard target and the 2lb trigger. Unreal Men like me need light triggers to hit the stuff we aim at ......[Slap]

Very nice. I too had lusted after a 700 heavy barrel .308 for a while. I found one a few months ago with the older style H-S Precision adjustable LOP stock and a 24" barrel, and son of a gun if it didn't follow me home. Now, if I could just find more time to get to the range with it.....
