Love mine. Ate JHPs right out of them box and is more accurate than I am.

My daily carry is a Springfield Micro Compact. It has been flawless but I did have to do a bit of work before I trusted it. Small 1911's can be cantankarous. I replaced all the springs, which really get a workout on a sub compact 1911. I also replaced the extractor and tuned same and replaced all the internals with Ed Brown Hardcore parts.
Now for the brutal truth.
I would find a Springfield or a Colt Defender before I put out the cash on a Kimber.
Kimbers can be a crapshoot. I have had to work some over straight out of the box before they would run reliably. Nothing huge and major but just stupid lack of Quality Control. You should not have to do that when you plunk out a grand for a pistol.
Not to mention their customer service is not very accomodating according to the customers that I have dealt with.

Anything smaller than a Commander sized 1911 is a crapshoot if it will run.

I was at a local gun shop today and I ran across a Kimber 1911 3 inch. I picked it up and it felt great. I was wondering if there is anyone on here that had an opinion of them based on experience that they would not mind sharing. Let me say too that I am looking for a compact 45 acp single stack that is not as bulky as a Glock 36. Any other recommendations are welcome.

A g36 is bulky? Wow. That's a new one. A g30 can be considered bulky, but a g36?

I had a Kimber. It was a very nice firearm... I'm just not a 1911 guy I guess. Sold it for something else.

Look at the S&W 3" 1911 scandium frame.....great quality, decent price, great workmanship, perfect carry 1911.
