I've got a small group of people who are looking to go prairie hunting, and I want to know what the best way of going about this is. So far its only two people but there will probably be more. What were looking for is a place that is relatively close (hour and a half drive or less) to the denver/lakewood area, where we could go shooting for free. None of those places where they charge you 150 bucks per half day. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You are going to have to drive for at least 2-3 hours to get on some good free hunting spots. Also good spots are hard to come by and most people are not willing to give up the spots they worked hard to get.

+1 on that. Finding a good spot takes a lot of work. Most shooters are reluctant to share their honey holes except with the closest of buddies.

2-3 hours east (north and south), start asking around at some small towns off the beaten path. Be nice, polite and a responsible gun owner and you might find someone willing. Tough thing to do unless you already know someone.
