Today I received some of the best news I've heard in a long time.
My son is a JTAC stationed at Ft Hood. He received orders today to the 13th ASOS at Ft Carson, reporting NLT 31 Dec 2010.
I'm extremely excited and happy about this. He and his wife will most likely be moving up to the area some time in late Nov or early Dec.
They'll obviously need a place to live...probably to rent initially. If anyone knows of something around that time frame I'd appreciate a heads up.
Congrats. What sort of living accomedations are they/you looking for? 1 bed, 2 bath, etc? House/apartment, etc?

know the feeling!!! I had my daughter move here from Ft Hood to Ft Carson, she was here for about 6 months back to Iraq for a year and back at Ft Carson for 7 months and then left again. Enjoy them while they are here, Army like to move them right now. Tell them thanks for their service

Probably a house...2 bedroom, dog friendly. Rural is probably better but that would just be a bonus. DIL is a nurse and will most likely be working in CS.
Dogs are a must.

There are several nice places in my neighborhood to rent. Only downside is we're not down by Carson (but that can also be a good thing).
I live in the Pleasant Valley neighborhood (http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=109626164895777012223.00048e84206b6a2e1a07e&ll=38.86337,-104.86948&spn=0.023424,0.041714&z=15) If they've got grade school aged kids, there's a great elementary (http://www.d11.org/howbert/) in the neighborhood.
Very cool. He and I will be spending some time together either at Carson or Peterson.
Tell him to check into base housing at Peterson. 100+ new homes just built and many more being built.

Carson has just built a bunch of new housing as well. I live just off post and even though some would say it is a so-so neighborhood about 1/2 the residents are retired military. It is in the county so some things are cheaper and the sheriff is much easier to deal with than the CSPD.
