View Full Version : So the Denver sheriff has stepped down?
Is that correct? That's what they were saying on the news. The two issues that the news mentioned was the guy getting the shit kicked out of him last year while on tape (wasn't he not doing anything but being on a cell phone or something?), and the guy dying while being restrained at the jail.
Comments, feelings, more info? Thought it would be a fitting topic on this board since I thought that someone recently posted that they were under the impression that the sheriff was a "good guy" for guns, but was at odds with the rest of the city/county.

Denver County does not have an elected Sheriff. They have someone appointed and referred to as an Undersheriff who runs the Denver County Sheriff's Department. The whole city and county thing throws people off when they are trying to look at the government operations like a "normal" city or county.
Broomfield is similar as they are a city and a county, but the chief of police also is in charge of the jail and what would normally be considered county sheriff functions.
So the guy that runs the ergonomics committee quit?

Didn't all this stuff happen prior to the hiring of Perea?
What about Whitman and Hickenlooper? All this crap happened under their watch.

Excellent come back!
Jacking thread.
Went out of town past weekend and saw lots of Hickenlooper banners in the rural areas on the western slope.[Help]
Now back to the subject.
Yep, we stopped at some place in Winter Park called something Cantina and they had a big Hickenlooper sign on the window. Then in Fraser or Tabernash, there is a closed up gun shop with a Maes sign in the window.

I think more accountability of the DPD needs to happen. Its bullshit and giving good Cops bad names

I would agree. They need to change some of their institutionalized behaviors that affect their new officers.
Denver officers get slaps on the wrist for things that other agencies fire for. It makes all officers regardless of their agencies, jobs harder due to the public opinion on the several highlighted situations. Hard to get and keep public respect due to them.

I agree, they have some out of control cops. If the good cops are tired of this reflecting on them, they need to come together and do something to clean out their own house. I have no symphathy for any good cop that stands around and does nothing about it except complain.

Hick was in the Shower.
I find that difficult to believe. That guy just seems dirty [not as in "criminal", but as in low class and underhanded] to me - and I know that every time I hear of something new he's said or done *I* feel like I need to take a bath.
