I may finally have a TV show to watch.
That intro was taken straight from Resident Evil: Apocalypse. It might be worth a watch.
Is it just me or does he say "make sure you've got a round in the chamber and the safety off" to someone holding a Glock?

Never said it was unrealistic, but I will agree with you on the fact that he had no clue what was going on. Easy for me to sit back and pick apart things I would have done differently, since I know what's going on.

Enjoyed and will watch again
Stealing a military vehicle straight out of getting out of the hospital is a great way to get put right back in the hospital. Like everyone else said, the guy had no idea what was going on.
My things were that the wall clock had batteries and would likely still be running. It sure took him a long time to realize he was making himself deaf with that .44 mag.
I like it so far, and was watching it with a friend that is on #78 of the comic book.

That was a good start of a series.
Don't the clocks run on power from the hostpital? I know the lights were on but I think that was a generator. Oh well still was good.

I just figured that since I didn't see a cord that they were the standard battery powered wall clocks. I already feel dumb for bringing it up because I'm over analyzing what has started out to be a great series. I think it will hopefully stay good because it is based on a comic.
Anyone watch Dead Set at all? I need to find out what channel that one is on. I don't have DVR or anything, so I don't know how I'll watch it.

really skeptical of the series at this point.
Plot already looks REALLY thin with some serious reality flaws.
Otherwise, I am in the "wait and see" section.

As is often the case, the literary works and the cinematic interpretation of said works are often extremely different.

I've heard that they did a good job sticking to the plot from what people know about it. For sure this first episode according to buddy. What kind of large plot holes are you seeing?
On a side note, I did recognize the Sheriff's partner as the guy in the first installment or two of The Pacific.
I was wondering how many more people were going to crawl out of that car before the cops cleared it? I recorded it and watched it after a 5 mile walk around a hood where zombies aren't limited to Halloween. After that I watched it without commercial interruption. Since commiecast changed their signal I haven't been able to have my computer record movies for me. I had to go to a friends house to watch it.

I'm with you there. I'm fine with movies being unrealistic. I watch movies strictly for entertainment. I usually don't want any "deep" meaning behind the story. Perfect example of a movie like that: Snakes on a Plane. No point to the movie other than "Motha fuckin snakes. Motha fuckin plane"

Quite easily, several of us have done it. "horror" type movies are probably some of the easiest for me to pick apart. At any rate, I think most of us agree, the first episode was pretty good, and plan to continue watching.

I've only watched the first 45'ish minutes of it and I thought it was great. There's always going to be little details to pick apart but for a zombie TV series I thought it started off awesome. I think it'll be a fun, suspenseful show.

its not really that I Saw plot holes, its just that the plot revealed its setup a bit too clearly...
sheriff and buddy confrontation over wife coming, huge power struggle for leadership as well
black guy and wife struggle... I expect the Son to die soon. 2-3 weeks.

I noticed some of the same things, but I think with any show, there is a certain amount of "suspense of disbelief".
I try to explain stuff away;

giving away plot lines like that does two things. one, it sucks people in because they want to see it. two, it sets people up who guess how its going to happen and then it doesn't happen like that at all.
zombies aren't supposed to think straight. they see a horse and human, they don't know the difference. they already had their hands on the horse from when he was on it, if they can't think, why would they turn and get the guy on the ground instead? youll notice only the zombies attacking him on the horse went for the horse, most of the others who just showed up went for him.
abrams with hatches open seems totally plausible. how many crew members did you see in the tank? how many are usually in an abrams? so if they aren't there, and they left, how would they escape? would they take the time to close the hatches on their way out? the bottom one being open makes sense. if theyre being overrun, would you try to go out the top or crawl out under the bottom. id go the bottom.
there were many zombies that acted dead until a human was nearby. it was far from the only one in the tank.
radio one i agree with, but how long was the tank there? we don't know.

I was actually referring to the fact that earlier (in the town) the Guy fired a single shot and it pulled a sizable crowd of zombies. They had even made reference to this again at the police station.

LOLOL x2, Most LEO haven't a clue about SHTF, Survival, etc. Most LEO don't even like firearms, they only use them because they have to. They only know what their respective departments have taught them, anything beyond that, is knowledge they have picked up on their own. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of bad a$$es out there in the LEO community, but the majority of them, just know their job, and some don't even know that.

I agree that Deputy Grimes is not real bright, the father that's still mourning his wife is over-dramatic... was hard to take his crying seriously when he's trying to shoot his wife-turned-zombie, when she looks like she's trying to clear her ears like she's got a cold and just got off a plane...
I don't think I'm in danger of getting addicted to this show, but I'll watch it if it's on..

A show about people having super powers? Maybe they'll make a character work for some dumb ass news paper as a cover. When there's trouble he'll simply take off his glasses, strip down to his little costume that's tucked under his clothes, and fly into the face of danger. He may have a cape too that must be shoved directly up his ass since you'd be able to see it through his everyday reporter clothing if it wasn't.

the worst zombie movie planning wise is i am legend. the dude is in the military. when its all going to crap, grab a bradley or stryker, drive it into your front lawn and sleep in there during the night. no zombie is getting in there. even if you run out of gas, so what, its a fortress. living in your home with tons of entrances? stupid. you can do your research there during the day. its not like he found out and had one day to prepare, he had a lot more time than in the walking dead.
i think its funny that people give themselves so much credit for what they would do if they basically woke up from a coma, saw a huge pile of dead bodies and blown up buildings, almost got attacked by a zombie with no legs, and doesn't know a single soul around. yeah im sure you would be thinking very clearly. the idea is that these characters haven't watched zombie flicks their whole life. zombie's aren't supposed to exist. so when they see them they don't say "oh hey, there is a zombie, well i know how this goes".

Finally got around to watching it. I thought it was great. A few observations...
1) He clearly gets shot in the back upper left shoulder...about armpit level. But when he wakes up in the hospital his bandages are much lower, about lower ribcage. What's up with that?
2) Regarding the comments about him being dumb for riding a horse into Atlanta...hell no, that's bad ass! Cowboy up. He rocks a big ass revolver so he might as well keep it cowboy and rock a horse too.
3) Shooting said revolver in the tank...oops.
I try to not pick apart fictional stories but him getting shot in one place and his bandages being in another is just a stupid mistake. But, good show. Looking forward to the next episode.

I asked the director, and he said that the bullet deflected off his shoulder blade and exited way lower out of the front of his body. He went on to explain how bullets do funny things inside a body full of bones and fluids and blah blah blah.

I do know there are all kinds of good supplies to take, I was looking at the military equipment and dead soldiers, and broken police cars. There are all kinds of useful things to take.
It reminds me of an old military saying, "If you die first (or become a zombie first) we are splitting up your gear." I noticed a .50 cal with a belt of ammo attachted to it....
Yeah, I thought I'd point that out as several other people mentioned the same thing. I personally wouldn't go any where near a city either, unless my family was there. Even then I'd take a dirt bike.
Don't know how I'd get them out on a dirt bike, but I figure I could figure something out by season 2.

I do want to point out that I was VERY upset when they killed that horse.
Gloria was also upset when they killed the horse, but not NEARLY as upset as she is at the wife. Basically, the zombies are just extras in this series and the main antagonist is "that whore ass wife." According to Gloria.

Another "issue" I noticed. Actually thought of it during the first episode but did not post it. On the highway going to Atlanta the outbound lanes are crammed full of cars but the inbound lanes are totally empty. Do you really think that in a time of crisis no one would use the other lanes? I would. Actually I would probably use the median or shoulder in one of my jeeps. :D
Well maybe those cars all got out.

The one way highway might not make much logical sense but it does help the plot. If the road was jammed unmanageably the characters couldn't drive out of town.
It's a good show but still doesn't hold a candle to Zombieland.

I just watched the 2nd episode. I didn't think the love triangle was going to get so complicated so quick. Looks like it may escalate in episode 3. Good show. I'm enjoying it.

I'm sure that hacksaw was unfortunately equipped with a bone saw, leaving him no choice.
I saw that and even if he was crazy from drugs or being in the sun for a day. And even if it would have been easier to cut through my hand then the cuffs. It would still come to me that I should cut through that rusty bolt easier than the cuffs and less painful than my wrist. [ROFL3]
But apparently this zombie show is being missing something and wouldn't be lame without anti gun writers that have never heard of suppressors. And get by without bringing up tired civil rights issues or woman suffrage movement. They cared more about bringing a shit load of laundry that needs washing that guns and ammo.
Just what I've noticed. My .22's and .45's would have cans on it if not my own I would make some since the world ended why not? Old painless on my hip for chopping heads off too.
The show's alright but there's a bit too much social commentary and not enough...everything else.

I don't think the brother brought the zombies to camp. In the last episode they had a zombie stumble into camp eating that deer. They said the zombies were probably running out of food in the city and were coming out into the country side. It was good to see the wife beater get his ass chewed on though....
And I still don't know why he cut off his hand instead of the rusty ass bolt that his cuffs were on. Sure it would suck to have a pair of cuffs on one hand but you can always deal with that later......
I'm in agreement about the brother. I didn't get the impression that he brought the zombies to camp. However, when the guys were coming back from the city, expecting the brother to be out with a vengeance, I assume that they thought all the shooting was a confrontation between camp and the brother.

The gear in the show has sucked so far. Has there been any box fed rifles yet? The last thing I'd want is a shotgun. Heavy, slow to load, big ammo.
I know they do it to keep it interesting and not threatening to lefties.
If zombies ever came, I think you'd be able to identify the co-ar15 members houses because they would have the house in the middle of a cone dead zombies starting 100 yards out.

Heck, a 10/22 would be enough for a CNS hit to stop the Walkers.
The whole interaction with "Hamas" was a bit odd and not realistic.
Surprised the crossbow guy doesn't have the arrow on a tether, just pull it back.
