so I popped my ar 15 cherry this week. and bought my first bushmaster,

xm 15 e2s, used very little and in great shape, but basically stock. the former owner never did fire it. the original owner fired it very little. i have heard they have a hard trigger, but this one at least seems to be smooth. the original owner was a marine and a gun smith so he may have done some work to it.

obviously some upgrades will be in order, new stock optics etc.

the buddy i bought it from is holding it for until i can get my safe delivered. I will post photos as soon as i get it from his safe.

my question arises in the optics choices. i have only used a standard rifle scope. what can i expect to see in the way of a field of view etc that would be different in a tactical optic?

I have one of those in the collection and tac'd it out to be functional. Only a one FTE when I first got it (Round 40) because of a bad mag. Since then it's run like a clock and I'm on round count 4707. I had one Magpul (#6) fail to stay locked in during a class at round count 4400 so I pulled it out of rotation and need to send it back. As far as optics I chose an Aimpoint CompM2 for reliability and battery life and the glass is real good.
