Die hard Nikon fan here. Great glass at great prices. I think the Monarch line is within your budget and they are awesome. Don't be so worried about the brand name so much, rather focus on what glass works for YOUR eyes in your price range.

I've got a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 Ballistic Plex with BDC and couldn't be happier! For less than $200, I doubt I could have gotten a better scope. Check them out, they are excellent quality.

Love my Redfield. Very nice glass for twice the $$$. Made in America right along side the Leupold, Lifetime warranty.

Recently bought the Redfield Revolution Accu Range in 3X9 for my Bushmaster. Bright and clear optics, holding zero like a champ. I am still trying to handload into the accu range BDC but it will come.[AR15]
vortex viper. easy decision. done deal. you won't find anything clearer in the price range and they have a lifetime no questions asked warranty. even if you buy it used.
oh redfields are supposed to be nice too. ive heard they really upped their quality.
I've got the Weaver 4.5x14 Grand Slam and it works really well. Good clear glass for not a lot of money.

I just put the Redfield Accu-Range 4x12 with BDC on my setup and thus far I love it...I've only had it out to the range once, but the optics seemed great. $168 shipped off GB.
I also recommended the vortex viper best glass best warranty I put it on one of those stocks that hold 2 scopes one above the other with redfield, nikon, vari x 3 and ziess and the ziess was better but atalmost 3 times the cost. I could clearly see better out of the vortex than anything else. go look through one you wont be disappointed

+1 on the Vortex Viper
I just put a Viper PSAT 4-16 FFP on my repr and it was the best $850 I have ever spent on a scope. Most bang for the buck for sure!

yeah i just put a pst 6-24x on my 308 and love it. funny thing is functionality wise the regular viper is pretty damn close. i just liked that the pst had illumination and more tactical turrets that are very crisp. otherwise, glass wise, you could save around 400 bucks and just get the regular viper and still be very satisfied. i had the regular viper and switched it out for this one.

im in the same boat witm my 300. i ended up getting a sightron big sky iii. im looking at getting a vortex for my 338 or a zeiss. i gotta handle the vortex first. ihave nikon and burris on my other rifles, and prefer the nikons for their dead on tracking. if you get any of the optics mentioned, make sure you do a tracking test so that you can trust your scope.
Go over to BPS and you can look at them side by side (or one above the other) and really compare the 2

I say Nikon or Burris. If you buy Burris its a Colorado company.
