I just had a bad experience with my local gunsmith (I won't say the name of the place, but they pissed me off pretty good!) and I am looking for someone to parkerize my NoDak receiver and Romy barrel combo.
I am looking for reasonable rates.
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions or recommendations?
Did you do a search to see if there is already a thread about your gun smith?

I haven't. I've been patronizing this store for several years and have remained faithful through the store's ups and downs. I'm done now. Someone else can have my business and my money.

Is it appropriate to name the company and what happened?
That way we can make more informed decisions and avoid possible bad experiences too.

If you can get your hands on a big enough stainless tray for it to fit it's easy to do it yourself, a buddy of mine on another forum uses a certain solution he buys off a guy from ebay and it is nice, gets the ar black type finish.

I've elected to not name the store. I'm sure there are people here who would praise the store, I just can't. Too many bad experiences with them.
I met up with BPTactical and he is going to park my stuff. Frankly, I'd rather patronize someone like him over the afore not-mentioned store.

I've been eyeing a setup by Brownell's, but I don't have enough work to make it reasonable. I probably will eventually experiment, but for now, I'm quite happy with having BPTactical take care of it for me!

Every store/dealer thread on here has people with bad experiences in the thread. No pressure. ;)
If it is some where like Gunsmoke, then NO ONE has had a good experience there.

Ha ha! That's true! I've been to his store and while I liked the layout, the decor, I wouldn't buy anything from him due to his outlandish philosophy of purchasing/background checks priority.
I listen to a lot of talk radio and Gunsmoke gets thrashed pretty regularly on the Tom Martino show.
No, the store I have problems with is on the south side of town and already has a thread on here that isn't flattering.

Now how in the world did you hear of this? Hmmmm?

What do you mean? The fact he requires people to purchase the firearm and then go through the background check and if they fail, then they can have him consign the firearm, but he won't refund the purchase price? I heard about this from a number of sources, one being the Tom Martino show, where he has received a number of complaints over this process.
Every other person/place I've ever bought guns at have you go through the background process prior to actually paying for the gun and I've bought a number from all over the state.
This forum reaches farther than my personal experiences, so you can ask the people here. Does anyone else in Colorado that you've dealt with in the purchase of a firearm require you to buy the firearm first, THEN conduct the background check?
He's indicating that the only reason you know about it, is because someone (everyone) has told of their experiences.

Aaahhh! My apologies for not catching the proper inflection!
No apology needed. After all, you're only one guy.

Are we going to have to make you two take a time out and sit on the couch and hold hands?
