HELLLLLLLO COLORADO.
hope all is well on the other side of the rockies. stumbled upon your website while researching gun stuff and think you folks have a good thing going on here.
we have a similar site called CALGUNS.NET
Cheers to you all! [Beer] I hope to use this site as resource and contribute in anyway I can.
I have been a competitive smallbore prone/3-p shooter for over 15 years, smallbore silhouette for the last 3 and now taking up High Power Service Rifle after getting the AR-15 (black disease) .
Its a great sport, with great people at every match I go to! Maybe ill find myself on my belly shooting in your great state in the near future!
thank you all, best of luck to you and yours.

How is it California? You can't own AR's right?
They can, just with a 10 round max on detachable mags. Anything over 10 rounds has to be pinned to the gun so you have to swing it open to reload it. I think that's correct.

Welcome to the site.
We'll try not to flaunt our slightly looser firearms freedoms too much.
Now ,if you know anybody with a boat we’d greatly appreciate it if you could talk them into inviting Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Maxine Waters, and Diane Watson out for a three hour tour, “a three hour tour” (get it?!).
The rest of the country would GREATLY appreciate it!

Welcome! I migrated from Ca last year; it's great here.
To answer the question regarding ARs and Ca:
An assualt weapons ban was passed which was designed to ban several firearms including ARs... however... the legalities weren't as clear as the legislators hoped. So one could (and several do) own ARs in Ca providing you comply with the following:
1. Fixed magazine (this can be done with a "Bullet Button", look it up, simple way to comply)
2. 10 rounds or less (not a big deal in Ca sense almost all firearms are already limited to 10 rounds or less)
3. The lower receiver has to be what's called an "Off list lower". The ban includes a list of specific brands and model lowers that are considered assualt weapons (like some colts, bushmasters, etc). So one would need to find a lower that isn't on that list (realitively easy). The upper brand doesn't matter.
If one complies with the above, the AR is not an assualt weapon per how the Ca law is written. This is a common intrepretation, but I'm not a laywer.
HAHA 3 hour tour eh! thats great. we sure dont need them here. Maybe the famous governator who has rubber stamped almost every gun restriction to hit his desk can be the boats captain too! [ROFL1]
I live just outside of downtown Los Angeles.

to give you an idea of how ridiculous CA gun laws regarding AR15/AKs 'assault rifles' you sure to have it good there. I worked briefly in dtown Denver nice clean place, though rural life sounds like a better idea for me :)
we might great weather and other fun stuff to enjoy living here but having to deal with the gun politics in the state is getting to be too much. start next year we have a ammo restriction taking effect limiting how much ammo you can buy and even then by finger print! if thats not bad enough already, were no longer going to be able to buy ammo direct from out of state sellers :(

I considered that but decided to let it go. The key to the statement is that I do not advocate ANY HARM coming to those mentioned. I'd just like them to dissappear onto a deserted desert island for a long time.
Right Skipper?

I knew things were bad there but I really had no idea just how bad. (BTW: I'm glad you got the Gilligan's Island reference.)

Yeah I have stared at that ridiculous flowchart for a while, since I have been contemplating some job opportunities in Kalifornia, thinking what I might be able to take with. It seems the best solution would be an M1a with 10 rnd mags and the muzzle break instead of flash supressor, and the same for a mini 14 then no bullet buttons, and those goofy stocks etc, but then I noticed that my SAI SAR 8 is not on the list, but an HK91 is, go figure.
