As part of being prepared I have a little of this and a little of that. Couple of years ago one store was blowing out there T-rats with free shipping.

For those that do not know a T-ration is nothing more than an MRE in family size. Each T-rat is good for 8-12 servings. As we were rearranging the storeroom I grabbed one for dinner.

Now in a real world application I like to think of them as winter comfort food since they are a wet pack item and if only for a couple of people you have to have a way of storing the leftovers.

The entree was Mexican Chili Mac. Says it is good for 8 servings. These were packed in 09/2007 so are only 3 years into there 9-10 year life. T-rats come in plastic trays so you have to have a way of heating them up. I just take what I need and freeze the rest.

This entree was not bad. Needed a little salt and we put a little cheese on top. Not too spicy at all and the wife liked it.

Man, that looks a heck of a lot better than the Chef Boyardee Ravioli that I tried eating yesterday. It said Best if served by June 2009. Yuk.

Picture number 2 looks just about how I remember them.....
If you you eat anything that says BEST is if eaten before a certain date you can bet it will only be BETTER every year after that! Yummy!

T-Rats is about all i ate for the first 4 months of OIF 1. Shitty part is when you get Country Captain Chicken you don't get M&Ms to soften the blow of having the worst meal ever.

Do they all come in plastic now? We had about half and half come in metal pans.

They all come in plastic now. I have had my fair share of them. I think they are like anything else. Some are good and some are downright nasty.

Looks can be decieving. I had my fill of T-Rats in the Army. Although in a world apocalypse scenario I have to say that I probably wouldn't complain.

The best way to eat them is mix it with real food whenever possible.

Ramen and crushed red peppers or Tabasco (depending on your preference) is good for that. It helps out MREs also.

I had my fill of tobasco. I can't do it anymore. I would rather have Cholula
