Thinking about getting one?

I used to use a G29 as my concealed carry gun. I picked up a Storm Lake barrel to shoot lead with and found it to be a good balance of power and concealability. With the right loads it is a great self defence or woods gun. I traded it out for the longer sight radius and higher velocity of the G20, not as concealable but in a crossbreed holster pretty solid. Used to have a 29 and sold it. It was a good shooter and I really liked it. I now own a Glock 20 and like the full size a little better. I recently purchased a Lone Wolf 6" barrel for it and plan to take it on a hog hunt soon.

The 29 is great if you plan to use it for concealed. If your not worried about concealed then I would recommend the Glock 20. There are more after market barrel options for the 20 as well.

Both are great guns and the 10mm is a fantastic round.

I have a Glock 29 and it is one of my favorite handguns. I have the Pierce grip extensions on my mags and you can easily get all three fingers on the grip. I have Lone Wolf 40 S&W and 357 Sig barrels for mine and they work perfect with the 10mm mags and recoil spring. Lone Wolf also offers 9 x 25 Dillon and replacement 10mm barrels. Their barrels are pre-fit, stainless, drop in and go, you can also get longer or compensated barrels for it as well. This is in my opinion the best mountain gun made, compact, lighter than my big magnums, 10 rounds in each mag ( I have three ). If you don't reload your own you can get some pretty hot Double Tap loads that will knock down almost anything on four legs, or two. I use the 40 S&W barrel a lot to practice using cheap ammo. If your just going to hunt with it the Glock 20 may be better, everything you can do with the 29 you can also do with the 20 just on a bigger frame with longer barrels. With me it's all about the concealability of my gun or I just will not have it with me all the time. Whatever one you get your going to love it.

its pretty sweet only shot mine once so far but gona start loading up some hot 135gn loads, its really not that compact for a "subcompact" its pretty much the same size at a g19, but handled stout 10mm no problem and i really need the pinky extensions for mine

I had a G-29 for a bit. It just was not as small as I had hoped.

So I sold it.

I have a G20, and a good friend who has a G29. He loves his, got the Lone Wolf barrel for it and uses it for his carry gun. I originally got my 20 for hog hunting but it's set up to be able to carry if I want to. It's a bit large for carry, but I think it's doable if you really want to. I've considered a 29 myself, but handled a G30 the other day and may go that way instead. It's smaller than the 29, but being a .45 still packs a good punch. Still, if you really like the 10mm then the 29 is a good piece as long as you don't mind it being a bit bulky.

All 45ACP and 10mm Glocks are built with wider (1.27") frames and slides all the other caliber frames are 1.18" wide. The one exception is the single stack mag G36 in 45ACP it is narrower (1.13"). Glock 29's and 30's have exactly the same size, frame, slide, length, width, capacity etc. Even the smaller griped G30SF is the same size as the G29SF and they still use the same mags. If you get a G30 in 45ACP you will only have a 45 unless you change to the smaller breach face G29 slide to use 40 SW, 357 Sig or 9x25 Dillon barrels and you still need G29 mags because of the diameter of the ammo. Only G30 and G29 mags will interchange and fit this compact frame. If you want higher capacity mags then the larger G20 and G21 mags will fit and stick out the bottom because those are also the same width frame.

Kind of late for responding to this comment, but I have to agree. I will likely look into getting a G20 in the future, simply because I spend quite a lot of time in the Mountains, and the 10mm is an awesome round, but for what the 29 was designed for (concealment), it didn't work very well for me.

My 29 was the most accurate Glock I've ever owned. Real tack driver. Wierd for a compact....

Pinkerton OUT!

When i got it I was ready to wince shooting it, and it turned out it recoiled (to my feel) less than the 20. I wouldn't sell mine for anything. Just 11 rounds (1 + 10) of 10mm? Not so bad. Carry a spare 20 and you've got 15 extra. It's the only gun I have an IWB holster for. I have the pearce grip extensions too, and an AO front sight (big dot).

The slide actually weighs more than my 20.
