View Full Version : Anyone going antelope hunting next weekend?
7 of us going up to Wyoming for opening day next Satuday. We have 22 tags to fill. Mostly doe though. I have never shot any big (well almost) game before. My bro is the big hunter and they filled their 12 tags on opening day last year. [Jeep]

Wow... I get one every year.
In eastern Colorado they refer to them as prairie maggots. The land owners want them gone. You just need to knock on some doors to get permission on private property. Preferably a year prior to getting a license for that area.
The further east you go away from Denver, the more likely you will be to get permission.
The only issue I have out east is the amount of poaching and road hunting that occurs.
You stop your truck to spot the antelope through binoculars and/or a spotting scope and the antelope on opening morning run at a distance of over a 1/2-3/4 mile because they have been shot at before opening day.

I'll be going to Wyoming as well, but not until 3rd week of Oct.
Good luck.

I suppose it just depends on the area you are applying for. We are going in area 47 just north of medicine bow. about 60 miles NW of Laramie. I'll be sure to post some pics here next week. Now I have to finish sighting in my 270 Savage.

Processing will be done in Laramie. Nothing like sticking your hands into a hot gutpile

I drew a buck tag in unit 125 this year, near Ordway. Using a .257 Roberts built on a commercial Mauser action that my dad gave me a few years ago. I'm just getting ready to mount the bipod I purchased yesterday.

Are there still over the counter tags available for non-residents?
I think we were out near guernsey scouting a couple years ago had an invite from a landowner as long as we checked in with a case of coors.
whats the cost in WY for non-resident? I would love to go up there some time and get me a goat or two[Beer]

I dont know if there any leftover tags.
48.00 doe
280. for buck
550.00 for either sex
You hunting private land or are you on BLM? We're just hunting on public land. I just talked to my brother tonight. I guess it's 10 guys and 22 tags. Leaving Friday at lunch, 5 hour drive from the Springs. He has all the equipment for processing the meat. So a few nights next week there will be some work to do.

We did real good up there. 19 out of 20 tags filled. One guy left after one day so he didn't get his 2nd one. All doe/fawn tags. Wow that's alot of work. Still have to process the harvest. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn114/4gunfun/hunting%20Antelope%202010/DSC00930.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn114/4gunfun/hunting%20Antelope%202010/DSC00926.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn114/4gunfun/hunting%20Antelope%202010/DSC00935.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn114/4gunfun/hunting%20Antelope%202010/DSC00940.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn114/4gunfun/hunting%20Antelope%202010/DSC00939.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn114/4gunfun/hunting%20Antelope%202010/DSC00932.jpg
