Well, technically. I got a BCM blemish lower and bought the upper from BCM. LaRue marked Troy sights, Aimpoint Comp M4S, Surefire, Magpul ACS stock. The Gunfighter charging handle didn't come with just the upper, so I'll be looking for one of these soon.

This is the first time that I've played with the Magpul AFG, and so far the technique feels solid. I'll be testing that out soon enough.

Thanks. While I never had a problem with any of my other ARs, I wanted one that I can run hard and know that it will take it.

Not to be nosey but what was the blemish in the lower and was the cost saving substantial?

The blemish is a slight scratch in the anodizing on the right side of the magwell. If I recall, a new BCM lower is $360 with a standard 6 pos. milspec stock. A blemished lower same I believe is $270; cheaper if you get it without the stock. Are they more than other makers? Yes. Are the often regarded as the best? Yes again. For me, I was happy to spend the extra money.

Just trying to figure out what I'm going to do with it. One color, multi cam? We'll see.

What exactly does "Recce" mean, what's the difference with a regular AR, etc, etc?

I believe it is short for "reconaisance" (sp?). It has become a common building method. What differs on this rifle is a mid length gas system with an 11" rail, utilizing back up front and rear sights. This also gives you a longer sight radius, which can equal greater accuracy.

If you're thinking of a higher quality AR, then BCM is the way to go. I was actually looking into Colt, until I did more research to see that BCM uses the same quality parts that are MPI/HPT tested, and for the same price as a basic rifle I could get it with the mid length gas system and the rail that I already wanted.

Great looking carbine Birddog1911!!

BCM= Beaucoup Cash Man!

Actually BCM AR15s are some of the best prices for a quality carbine around.

BCM 14.5" mid length gas with 12" DD lite rail
BCM 18" rifle length gas with 14" DD lite rail
