View Full Version : Proposed shooting range near DIA raises concerns
http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_16191396
Officials from DIA and the Federal Aviation Administration are concerned that a planned $7.5 million public shooting range in Adams County could endanger low-flying planes with errant bullets.
In an earlier communication with county officials, Hofer said FAA's airports office in Denver was concerned that the shooting range "will adversely affect airport capacity" at DIA and "limit the operations of future runways."

They should come out to the Family Shooting Center at Cherry Creek. We're directly under the flight path for landing aircraft at Centennial. There's never been an errant shot hit an aircraft to my knowledge.

Is there a blue ice skeet range? [Coffee]

what else would you use a .50BMG for other than shooting down an airplane?

That's why these arguments always blow up. The gun owners show up with reasoned arguments and data. The anti's come in with emotion - Icky Poo Guns!. How the heck can you communicate.
Remember all those bloodbaths after states approved CCW? Neither do I.

Fighter jets fly over Aurora Gun club everyday...low flying too. Great fun to watch them bank above the range getting ready to land.
Pretty sure they haven't been shot at yet but maybe that's because they can shoot back.

I was out there on Sunday and some F-somethings flew over where I could see them just through the gap between the berms and the stands, made my day.

I'd pay extra if they had airplane shooting. DIA and the range make a profit and the economy gets a boost. win/win [Coffee]

Sarcasm:
Dictionary.com (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dictionary.com) describes the use of sarcasm thus:
In sarcasm, ridicule or mockery is used harshly, often crudely and contemptuously, for destructive purposes. It may be used in an indirect manner, and have the form of irony, as in “What a fine musician you turned out to be!” or it may be used in the form of a direct statement, “You couldn't play one piece correctly if you had two assistants.” The distinctive quality of sarcasm is present in the spoken word and manifested chiefly by vocal inflection ...[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcasm#cite_note-6)
Hostile, critical comments may be expressed in an ironic way, such as saying "don't work too hard" to a lazy worker. The use of irony introduces an element of humour which may make the criticism seem more polite and less aggressive.
