Having seen the video myself. I thought the officer had much more composure than I would have had if I were in that position. [Rant1]

SAN JOSE, CA – Most fathers would have taken him aside for a quiet chat.
But when one police officer found out a 15-year-old boy had slept with his 14-year-old step-daughter, he took things a little bit further.
The unnamed California motorcycle cop went round to the youth’s house in uniform and staged a fake arrest, claiming that he was being detained for sexual assault.
As his parents looked on, the officer handcuffed the boy and gave him a five-minute dressing down about his conduct before letting him go.
The policeman has now been put on administrative leave whilst an internal investigation and a district attorney probe are carried out.
The case has echoes of the 2000 comedy ‘Meet the Parents’ in which Robert De Niro plays a retired FBI officer who quizzes the man who wants to marry his daughter on every aspect of his personal life.
But this real-life version has divided opinion as to whether or not the officer went too far or was just doing what most fathers in his position would do.
The officer drove to the boy’s house on his police motorbike and went inside where mobile phone footage taken by one of the boy’s parents shows him standing in the middle of the room lecturing the youth.
On the footage the officer says to the boy: ‘It does not bode well for you. Do you know what that means? No?
‘Not a good thing that the person you had sex with is a cop’s daughter. The district attorney will probably file charges.’
The family’s lawyer said the officer’s behaviour amounted to ‘scared straight’ tactics that went too far.
‘He made comments like, ‘You don’t mess with a cop’s daughter.’ That’s a show of authority, that’s inappropriate,’ attorney Tony Boskovich said.
‘Applying force, applying handcuffs, threatening the young man with things such as rape in prison.
‘He acted like a cowboy. He lost it, he came in and he abused his authority.’
Lawyers for the policeman have suggested that the boy’s parents were complicit either by giving their permission or doing nothing to stop the tirade.
Attorney Terry Bowman said: ‘At no time did you hear the parents of the young man objecting, getting upset, crying. So the video is absolutely exculpatory from the cop’s perspective,’ she said.
‘The officer was essentially invited to use ‘scare straight’ tactics, and there were no objections to the lecture or the handcuffing.
‘Everything was done in the spirit of reaching a troubled young man who is heading down the wrong path.’
She added that early in the video the boy’s stepfather advises his handcuffed son: ‘Use your head. Think about what he is talking to you about. Listen to his words. Replay them in your head.’\
The boy’s parents filed a complaint with the police and both the boy and the girl were cited for unlawful sexual intercourse.
The misdemeanour, for minors who are close in age and have consensual sex, is rarely prosecuted.
None of the adults have been identified to protect the identities of the two minors.
San Jose Police Department spokesman Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said the officer may have violated some of the force policies which relate to conduct involving personal feelings and policing ones own neighbourhood, but could not comment further.
Should the district attorney file criminal charges the officer could face jail for false imprisonment.

I totally approve but still think he should be put in some hot water. Maybe some time off to think about it. The rest of us in same position have to show up in civilian clothes and take the risk of getting arrested if the argument gets out of hand.

hehehe I refrained from posting this earlier, didn't want to seem too anti cop.

Let's put aside the statie for now.

The whole situation in the video was the parent's fault. They let the guy in their house and bully their kid right in front of them.

Were that my kid, after a couple of minutes I would have stepped in and asked the trooper why he was here. I'd have asked him if he was working in an official capacity, or acting as a father. I'd have asked him if there were any charges against my son, or if my son was under arrest.

Once he answered no, I would have told him to get the fuck out of my house.

The cop started the situation by abusing his authority.

The parents allowed it to happen because they have been trained by society to obey police like robots.

The kid's/family's lawyer on TV the other day said the kid was charged with something, don't remember what, but that he went down to the police station to answer some questions after the cop confronted him in his home and now they filed charges against the boy. If that's the case, can the cop argue it was official business???

Oh, there's been entirely too much "strong arm"ing going on already. [Coffee]

My guess is the (overly) protective dad will end up with false imprisonment charges and (at a minimum) a suspension.

The reality is that any father on this site would have at least been highly tempted to do the same thing if we had been in his shoes.

I cant get mad at the guy.

I really can't blame the guy. If te parents felt soo threatened then they should have told him to leave or if they thought he was going too far then asked if the charges were legit then either complied or asked him to leave and he made his point.

If he didnt physically detain the little shit bag or hurt him I see nothing wrong? Nothing wrong with a "come to god meeting" now and then! People are just to PC and pansy ass fucking retarded anymore. If it was my son banging a cops daughter (or any one for that matter) and the dad showed up, well he brought it on him self.

Inappropriate of the officer to deal with this issue under the ruse of a law enforcement action.
Appropriate for a father to be concerned with his daughters well being.

I think before the father dressed anybody down however he should have looked in the mirror.
He raised her and possibly should have instilled stronger morals to HIS daughter.

Gotta agree with Elhuero on this.. Maybe cop should have shown more intrest in the daughters life prior to the "incident". And why all the hate for the young man? It does take two to tango, and when nature takes it's course, it's not going to be stopped. You might "delay" it a few years. But, you ain't stopping it. Guess you guys must have daughters.. [Tooth]

Hit the nail on the head- There seems to be a disturbing trend where young women are getting more aggressive towards boys, but there is an attitude that they're not held accountable or even responsible for what they do (sexually)

don't know how he's addressed this with his daughter, but if it were my daughter (yes, I have a 14yo daughter) I'd hold her just as responsible as the boy... maybe send out wedding invitations to all their friends... ok, I'm pretty sure that's a bad idea, but now the whole nation knows that his daughter slept with this kid, so it's a better idea than what this officer did, IMHO...

Just last week a 12 year old girl texted my sons friend "I am not a slut but I really want to do it with you." He claimed he did not know what "it" meant.

I understand why he would want to do that, but what a moron in using his position as a police officer...

Believe me, I don't want to think about my kids having sex that young, but the reality is that they are having sex at very young ages. I was young when I first did. So really, the only thing you can do is educate your kids to be safe, and what the possible repercussions are for their actions. Kids know a lot more than we hope they do, and many parents take the attitude of "well, my kids would never..." and they don't take the proper time to talk to their kids.

you may want to demonstrate with anatomically correct dolls..

Ken and Barbie have the same "equipment" (or lack thereof)
Would that make it a homosexual relationship?

This fuck head had the audacity to walk into another person's home to yell at a kid that his daughter let between her legs. It'd be one thing if he caught them in the act at his own house or something, but how long did he sit around planning this little tirade for?

Please don't imply that the staff here or the mods are unfair in how they run this place. Its simply not true. If they wanted to delete posts or lock this thread it would be done already. So please give my guys a break.

To the issue at hand. I can't begin to count the laws that the officer violated. I'm sure he violated numerous policies and regulations within his own department as well. I'm sure his career is over. Regardless of the intent, you can't do this. Even if his daughter had been violently raped, and assaulted, he should have reported it and let someone else handle it. He is now in a position to be sued in civil court, and the agency is culpable too. He can be charged criminally. You can't be a dad and a cop at the same time.

As a dad with three daughters this makes my head hurt. But pulling this stunt was just stupid.
