I know everybody thinks of this on Memorial and Veterans Day but I for one say "Thanks" to our Veterans just about every day. I have had the opportunity to meet quite a few here on the board and they are all great guys.
You all have served with Honor and Pride.
Some of you have paid a hefty price.
Thank You for your service and sacrifices to keep this great country of ours safe and secure.

They dont just serve or die on those 2 days of the year, so everyday is a good day to remember them/us.

To show my appreciation for folks who have given their time in the military service defending our Country, I am a volunteer driver of a DAV (Disabled American Veterans) van from Raton, NM down to the VA hospital in Albuquerque. This is an all day job without any pay as most of these guys/girls cannot drive so rely on the van to cart them down for their medical appointments/procedures. It amounts to driving close to 500 miles all in one day but it is at least giving a little something back to these Vets for their service. The vast majority of these Vets are really nice, extremely pleasant folks.
Additional Volunteer drivers are always urgently needed.
I tell them thanks constantly when they get on and off my airplane and when i see them in the terminal

A big thanks go's out from me...... Thank everyone of you!!!![Beer]
Not stupid at all BPTact.
My thanks goes out as well.
I always try to thank anyone in uniform/veterans I know, that two seconds it takes can mean the world to someone and few if any deserve it more.
Recently I started thanking anyone I saw in uniform. I recently missed out on a chance to thank a young lady whom I suspected was in the service though.

It does not count when you are paying them for "Services Rendered" and she is in a "Service" Stu....
Besides, I thought they closed that section in Craigslist

Nope, not stupid at all. I am thankful every day.
I got to shake a WWII vet's hand at the gun show this past weekend. He was in a wheelchair, something got in my eye afterward.

Thank you and God Bless our service men and women!
Tomorrow I go to my second day of volunteering at the Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center http://www.pptrc.org/. I've never volunteered anywhere official before. Helping kids do physical therapy on the back of a horse is some pretty amazing stuff. All kinds of crap flying in the eyes. The wounded vets are in the afternoon and not in my time slot. They always need volunteers walking beside horses and keeping that guy with no legs, or the kid with cerebral palsy up.

Thank you all for keeping in mind the service and sacrifices made by so many.
ETA: BPTactical, no, is doesn't sound stuid, in fact, it means more than you could possibly realize to have someone stop and say "Thank You". That simple gesture could be the one simple act that could make everything worth it for a servicemenber who missed seeing his child born because he was deployed or who just wonders "why" he/she continues to do what they do.
I never saw combat or even got to deploy (was pulled out of line & told I was medically disqualified my one chance I had at deployment). Sure, I served with honor, but my contributions were all "support" efforts to ensure the men & women on the front lines had the information they needed to get the mission accomplished and stay alive. I served a remote duty tour in Korea back in 88-89. Missed seeing my daughter born by 19 hours but I rushed to get back to the states even though I knew I'd miss the birth. My wife, the real trooper, stayed in active labor for 32 straight hours just seeming to hold on in hopes that I could be there so she could tell me "YOU DID THIS TO ME".
While most of my "support" efforts was simply processing and forwarding intel or ensuiring Command & Control resources were available, I also assisted by "playing cop" (long term USAF Security Forces Augmentee) and by helping to train those who were going to deploy as an OPFOR (Opposing Forces) member and as a "Self Aid & Buddy Care (First Aid) Instructor. In many ways I regret not being able to deploy and in other ways I feel blessed. I do know that I contributed to the success of the mission, for that, I feel honored.
We've got lots of men & women out on the front lines today that are seeing horrors not experienced since Vietnam. I never forget their efforts and the contributions they make FOR ME.
Blasterbob - I am a life member of the DAV (50% disabled). So I especially want to thank you for the tremendous service you are providing to our disabled vets. I truly am humbled!
ETA: BePrepared - Thank you as well. *No BS*, I feel honored to be associated with folks like you and Blasterbob. To volunteer your efforts the way you do is outstanding! Thank you!
God bless you all, and thanks for what you do. I say thanks to whomever I can when I see someone in uniform!

Although I only served 2 1/2 years in the U.S. Army and in peace time at that (1955-1958) I feel that I am at least attempting to pay a tiny portion of the huge debt to all other military service vets for their service in defending our great Country. It is actually a pleasure to drive the DAV van loaded with disabled Vets down to the Albuquerque VA hospital/clinic and so often when a car passes us on I-25, they will honk and give a big wave of gratitude or a "thumbs up" to us. What a great feeling and THAT makes my day!!
