Am I the only one who is noticing that people are expecting LNIB or Gander MTN prices for their heavily used, custom krylon or some BS they added on that permanently altered the firearm firearms?
It is ridiculous some of the prices.
I know I know...to each thier own and they can ask what they want and I can look over the add....just irritating because it is the same shit that never changes hands and when you make a solid offer with considerations to the issues it has like high round count or custom wal mart paint and the person says no due to they expect more money etc.
Just fucking bullshit....I feel better now that I vented. [Beer]

Profiteering sucks...wine maketh merry and a feast makes for laughter, but money answereth all things.
I stole it from the Bible.
So to be clear, you're sayin' that Krylon does not necessarily add value to a firearm?

With some people it's like telling them their baby is ugly. It'll either go bump in the night forever or the price might drop to reality. It's like house remodeling (when houses were worth something). Most customizing/remodeling should be done because you like it - not because it will add value.
I've sold a few items here but they weren't my favorite guns and I tried to price them to move. It's too easy to get emotionally attached to a price. I used to go to every gun show and I got used to seeing the same guns always for sale since they were way overpriced.
Go have a beer cause it ain't going to get better.

Don't just have a beer, have a really expensive one.

Your beer isn't nearly as good as my beer.
I kept my beer rolling around in the bed of my truck from Spring till Fall, but since it is unopened, I expect you to pay just over full price (you don't have to pay taxes on it after all).

Why yes, yes I have noticed. Then they want to create a paper trail on them even though it isn't neccessary, prudent or smart (in a collective way) imho. Hilarious and sad at the same time...

Sometime I will price things higher, but if someone has a reasonable offer thats ok. People on here offer crap some times for trade like" i'll trade you my show llama and a NIB Jennings 22 for your Wilson Custom 45,I think thats fair". It goes both ways. Sometimes guns are so cheap on here I think there stolen. I have seen the same guns bumped to the top since I joined, but what can you do? [Beer]

Or shipping, since we'll meet halfway between our places!
If it sells in the first hour, it was underpriced.
If it sells in a day or two, it's probably close to a realistic price.
If it's been listed for a week or more & it's still here, it's overpriced for this forum. If it's also listed at RMGO at the same price & doesn't move, then it's definitely overpriced for the community.
That's my take on it.

I myself never worried too much about it. I have bought a few and sold one here.
What one paid for something or what one is asking is never a thought. People try and sell items for more or less all the time. getting worked up over it serves no purpose.
Some will pay more for something that is FTF and some will not.

I'll only sell FTF as I sure want the buyer to see exactly what he's getting for his money and won't have to rely on my description of the item.

If you want premium prices + in today's market you have to "go fishing" on a paid national market like GB etc and that is still no guarantee.

It all depends on what you want. After all it is a semi free country and if you dont want to pay what a guy is asking try to barder with him. If you can't make a deal so what. Don't cry about just dont buy that guys goods. Keep on looking and you will find what you can afford at a different time.

actually there are some good deals however due to uncertainty in todays world of hope & change, people are not cracking off with cash like they use to. The down side is the really decent priced guns i like until the REQUIRE A BOS. . sure it's their gun and they can sell it any way they like. but a BOS on an old single shot .22 :(
Disclaimer: the following is MHO
when i see a "Like New" gun with ONLY 1500 ROUNDS FIRED. then it is USED NOT LIKE NEW. Once the trigger is pulled on a live round the gun IS USED. Kind of like a Low Mileage Virgin. once it's been tapped it is no longer a VIRGIN.

Most guns are test fired at the factory before they are shipped to the dealer. So basically you are saying there are no new guns.
OK. I understand now.
I find the classifieds some of the most interesting reading here- I can learn about guns I didn't know much about by researching them if they pique my interest.
"Hmmm, that BRLFQ-45 looks interesting".....
That's when I discover what the prices are around the web for new (if avail) and used guns, and that helps me make my decision.
I'll make one offer and then move on if the seller declines, and that's cool with me.
I don't need it that bad (most of the time - [ROFL1] )

Yes and no. I know EVERYBODY on here has seen my 22C that I'm selling. haha Its been up for just over a month, has almost as many views as the for sale forum rules(scary), and I have only had two people hit me up with cash offers.
Both I felt were a fair attempt to make an offer, but were FAR less than my asking price. One offer was just 60 dollars more than the cheapest Glock 22C on gunbroker(which is bone stock and didn't even look like it had been cleaned), and the other wasn't much more than that. I countered these offers at a lower than "ideal for me price", and the people politely declined. Does it bother me that I was lowballed, or do I think my asking price is way to high? NOPE! I know what my junk is worth on both the high end and the low end, and I'm asking alot less than the high, and not much more than the low!
When I was looking for trades in the first week I had the ad up before I edited it, I had ALOT more offers come in for trades(5 or 6? in a week!). Almost all of them were for some decent items, some of which carried a value close what it would cost to put together this gun brand new! But my situation changed and I needed cash...
I think that actual green cash money is pretty tight for most people right now, and trades, or trades plus a little cash are being used MUCH more than paying for something expensive outright. Its just the nature of how our economy is right now. Thats not a political statement, it just the truth! And if you haven't tightened your belt, congrats on your foresight and a little luck! :-)
But in the contrary..., you are completely right! There are ALOT of guns over the past 6 months I have seen for sale that either go away quicker than i can respond(and somebody always has dibs 2 min before me on the 30 dollar AR receivers or the 200 dollar XD lol)*sarcasm*, or just sit and sit with not even any interest, price break, or any motivation from the seller to push their item...
I will leave my pistol up, and not post a lower asking price because of the OBO. Its what I think the gun is worth based on some research. Eventually it will sell, and whether it be for my asking price, or something lower, only time will tell!
IM ONLY IN TOWN ANOTHER TWO WEEKS! WHOEVER WANTS A B/A GLOCK, LEMME KNOW! [Beer]

Usually it didn't bug me but now this thread has me paying more attention than I should. Now I'm agitated by it as well [Rant1], thanks a lot DD977GM2. But seriously folks, if you are going to try to sell something for MSRP why would I buy it from you when I could go pick it up from the store and have the piece of mind that nobody messed with it? It goes past firearms too. Reloading stuff is what really erks me. It's not 2008 anymore, I can walk into pretty much any gun shop and for sure Bass Pro and pick up any kind of powder, primers or projos no problem. I don't need to pay full price for your "I just opened is so I could smell it, I swear" pound of 748. As it was said earlier...if it's out of the packaging it's used. I know I can just pass over the threads but when you click "New Threads" and 60% of them are classifieds it's hard not to notice.
