I kinda agree. I'm sitting at home but I have to deliver a 5k pound safe today and thats not very fun when it's wet outside.

New tires are next on my list for getting the car ready. I'm always afraid of hydroplaning.

Irv, best thing to do is to take your car out on a lonely flat road and just make yourself hydroplane and learn how to control it. It really is quite easy once you get over the inital "OMG" shock.

When I was first learning to drive around 10 years old or so (farm boy, tractors, dirtbikes, etc,) my granddad took me out to the local feed store there when it snowed and just let me have it to learn how to control the car, etc. I recommend it for everyone to get over their fears of sliding/drifting/hydroplaning/etc.

You don't have control while you're hydroplaning. I've hydroplaned many times before and it scares me the same every time. One time I was doing about 120 mph. Nearly every tire I've ever had has hydroplaned. It's irritating.

There are things you can do to help though instead of just throwing your hands up and screaming, lol... I was trying to help. Take care!

Well yeah, I don't crank on the wheel and slam on the brakes or anything like that.

I once handled a claim where a 13 year-old piled all his 12-14 year old friends into a single cab Chevy S-10 farm truck, took it off the farm down the road, hydroplaned, and rolled the truck into a telephone pole and knocked the pole down. I remember the kid making his statement to me telling me that he drove into this puddle of water and the truck started drifting, so he turned the wheel. The truck didn't respond, so he kept turning it more and more until he locked it all the way to whatever direction he was turning. The truck came out of the puddle, jerked to the side and rolled into the poll when it hit the ditch.

He was scared shitless about the whole thing. It didn't help when I told him that he was lucky he didn't kill his friends and asked him if he had the over $5,000 it was going to cost to replace that telephone poll.

I know you were trying to help boo. I appreciate it, but hydroplaning will always scare me because I've only ever done it on the high way.

120? You bad boy. I bet your insurance wouldn't have paid THAT![ROFL1]

Irving

Nah, insurance would have paid that no problem. I might have been doing only 100 mph. I know I WAS doing like 120, but then I was like, "What am I doing? This is so dangerous." So I took my foot off the gas and water on the road made me do an abrupt lane change while doing triple digits. This was back in high school and before they repaved the west part of 6th ave when it used to be really rutted.

I once totaled a truck when I rolled it doing donuts and insurance paid that. People always ask me, "OMG! What did you tell them happened!" I always say, "I just told them I was doing donuts and rolled it."

Hands were hurting today. Busted both of them up real bad in a motorcycle accident back in 2000. Now, days like this remind me of my age and why I don't ride anymore.

Wow, those large bowls look about 50% bigger than the larges at my regular Pho place.

Ginsue, the large at the place I go is still only like $5.95 or something. Pho is what Ramen is supposed to be. Beef, tripe, tendon (if you want tendon and tripe), fresh cilantro, basil, jalapeno, sprouts, lime, etc in a bowl with delicious beef broth and rice noodles. It took me a bit to get used to tripe and tendon, but now I absolutely love it. We have it at least once a month; probably closer to twice a month.
