Saturday, December 4th, 8 am - 5 pm at Pawnee Sportsman's Center (www.pawneesports.com (http://www.pawneesports.com))

Defensive Carbine

This course is designed for students who not only want to know about their rifle, but how to make it work like it should. This is not a Power Point lecture, but a hands-on, full day on the range deck class that will push the skills of each shooter, novice or seasoned operator. Starting with a review of rifle fundamentals and shooter diagnostics, the class quickly progresses into defensive skills needed to survive any encounter such as: multiple shots, multiple targets, reloads and malfunctions, turns, movement, barricades, alternate firing positions, and terminal ballistics. THIS IS A SHOOTING CLASS! Throughout the class, students will learn to control and drive the carbine from a professional cadre of military and law enforcement trainers.

***This is NOT a class on military/LE tactics. This class is focused on how to use the rifle/carbine as an effective defensive tool, to push the shooter to their fullest potential, and to help shooters grow in the shooting community. Although “tactical” gear will suffice, it is encouraged that shooters bring reasonably appropriate defensive gear to the course. ***

Equipment Needed:

Defensive Carbine/Rifle (AR-15, AK, Mini 14/30, etc…)
Sling for carbine/rifle. (Single point and 2 point preferred)

750 rounds of rifle ammunition, 100 rounds of handgun ammunition
Hearing and Eye Protection (wraparound)
Brimmed hat recommended

When does registration close? Just saw this and will have a better idea of my schedule.

Also is there a list of bullet points that will be hit in the class?

Registration closes Wed, Dec 1st at 5pm. Topics covered include:

-Basic fundamentals (stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, follow through) and shooter diagnostics
-Reloads (tactical & combat)
-Immediate action & remedial action for malfunctions
-multiple shots
-multiple targets
-90 & 180 deg. turns
-shooting on the move
-barricades and alternate firing positions

Not a "how to clean and this part is called this" class (that's what the owners manual is for). We cover how to drive the gun to win a gunfight, based upon our combat experience.

I'm looking forward to this class so I can try out my LWRC in a class environment. Weather looks perfect for Saturday BTW.

With the perfect weather forecast for Saturday and the limited opportunities in the winter for a class like this I'm amazed that this post is not overflowing with the die hard members support. No time? Low on ammo? Too far to drive? Come on guy's let's make this happen.

We usually run these every 2-3 months. We have to schedule them inbetween our LE and DoD contracts and, of course, family time. I am working on the spring schedule now so keep an eye out of spring classes on the website in the next week or two.
