I am talking about the guys who have to bump their thread 3 times a day. There have been several lately. Not members who actually contribute, just sell. In our exchange, your post wont even disappear off the first page in a day. So why spam it 3 times in less than 24 hours? If you are doing it, think about it, we all can use the down arrow. We can see your ad.

its no big deal doing the bump the thread here. but, if a person posts a firearm or whatever for sale, and they wait a couple days or a week to bump it, then they get fucked by the aholes who have to bump their ads several times in less than a day. now their ad is pushed down so somebody else can hog the top spot, and to top it off, they are usually non active members, no going to shoots, no discussion, just here to hawk there wares. that is what cologunmarket is for. let them pay and sell there. this is nice as a place for people who try to be in a community type setting.

i know, i dont know much about forums, i didnt even know what a forum was before 2008.

my ideas, take them for what they are worth.

must be member for 1 month to sell. not to buy, not to browse, just to sell. this would deter alot of people who only sell.
1 bump per 24hrs. if you need to fix something, fix it in the original ad.
nothing major.

I agree with you HB. It does not bother me as much here as on ARF like when browsing local state EE only to find what you were looking for was bumped off the local page and then have to go find it in the main EE. ARF mods are pretty good about catching the offenders and it amazes me that people still do it. I think that if the same rule was applied here all it would do cause more work for the mods.

It bugs me when people bump them more then once a day unless they are updating/changing. If you drop the price, forget to ad something, change something I bump it just to let people see that something changed. But I am probably guilty of bumping to much also, but like said sometimes you have to compete with the other bumps so you don't sink to page 4 in 3 hours.

Once every 24 hours seems to be the norm at most sites. I think that's fine. There's a lot of stuff for sale on here now and your ad can drop way down pretty quickly, especially on the weekends. I've had stuff with minimal views on the first day and after a bump on day two the views went up significantly.

But seriously, use to be that it wasn't that big of a deal, but we've gotten a ton more traffic in the last year it seems. Would be nice to have folks be courteous rather than need a rule or Mod to take time to slap em'. Then again I'm not exactly too happy with the folks that feel some strange need to make a post for each individual item they want to sell, thus bumping a bunch of other folks off the front page 30 minutes after they posted.

It's a general courtesy thing that has kept us from needing to add more rules and they only seem to be needed every couple of years. Guess we're comin' up on that time again hu?

As someone who sells a fair bit of stuff I like the idea of 24hr minimum to bump. It's one thing to post to answer questions but to literally just post 'bump' or 'ttt' or such posts should be limited to one per a 24hr time period. It is quite annoying when someone bumps several times per day on such a small forum when it's till not even midway down page one. But I'm also torn because it's rare that forums can implement a single rule or requirement and it generally turns into a long grocery list of rules and regulations that become obscure and meaningless so if I had to choose I guess I would vote to just leave it as is.

In closing: Bump for the afternoon crowd!

(Man I hate when people bump for the morning/afternoon/evening/weekday/weekend/drunk crowd)
